You must have missed Bonds crushing home runs at a historic pace at an age that his talents should have diminished. It wasn’t like he was holding steady from his prime years. He was far better.

So the PEDs only increase strength, and do nothing for the coordination required to hit a baseball, correct? I know shit about playing professional baseball, but couldn't Bonds have been plenty strong enough to hit home runs without juicing?

Probably not to that level, he used them to change his body composition.

He went from being a 5 tool stud that could do everything really well to be a hulking dude that used his great eye and coordination to basically just walk and hit HRs.

No. It’s also about recovery. With the PEDs, you don’t feel as shitty (or weak) after 6 games straight.

That said, a big part of bonds’ success was his robocop shoulder, arm, and elbow protection which gives the hitter the bravery to stay in on pitches longer.

It’s a sham really. Take the gear off and see how bold they are on the 97 mph FB, followed up by a big breaking curve.

Lets not remotely act like he hit 70+ HR's because of his elbow shield.

Dude basically developed into a machine, he didn't swing at bad pitches, he took walks, if you made a mistake he killed it.

I will just give a quick example for you from a different sport that might help explain easier. Remember how the Bronco’s Peyton Manning was in his next to last year? The he gets caught with “his wife’s PEDs” and suddenly he fell off a cliff his final season. He still had the mind and the tools, just his body was unable to perform at an elite level. With Bonds he got better, by a significant margin as he got to an age when he should have declined.
