I will also say: I called this, in the Draft Forum.

Mazi Smith would have been my pick in this draft, but he's not going to be good in Dallas. They have no idea what to do with him.

Yes, and it's a bit weird to me that Donovan Smith went until after the draft before somebody signed him. It's almost like Veach had the deal worked out in principle prior to the draft, and Smith's team was cool with KC waiting until after the draft to sign so that the Chiefs wouldn't get dinged on the comp pick formula.

BTW, Donovan Smith is a tackle who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. They are a professional football team in Kansas City, MO.

I have absolutely no idea how Veach made the Donovan Smith acquisition happen, after the draft, in May. And it's working out?!

What kind of voodoo did the Chiefs practice to pull that off. He looks, right now, like he may be a better tackle this year than Orlando Brown looked last year.

Mazi I’m sure.

I’ve said this for a while now veach obviously highly values players with big squat numbers. And mazi has some of the biggest that’s entered into the league in a while.

I was really fascinated by the 2nd/3rd day interior DL talent.

Coburn, Benton, Roy, Clark, Ika, Dexter - there were a BUNCH of intriguing DT options.

That's why I was pretty adamantly opposed to Mazi in the 1st - I just didn't see enough separation between him and guys we could probably get on day 3.

I think I'd still rather have Anton over Uzi, but I am liking what I see from FAU a TON. Things worked out pretty well and if Wanya ends up being even a 4-year strong swing OT guy, that's a hell of a good use of that 3rd rounder that we didn't give up to move up.

This thread ended up being pretty spot on, really. Mecca even pegged the Cowboys taking Mazi at 26. But Coburn was one of the reasons I didn't want to jump early for a NT:

I think there are a LOT of 3rd/4th round DTs in this draft, actually. Even quite a few with inside/outside potential. Jerrod Clark, DJ Dale, Jacob Slade, Cam Young, PJ Mustipher, Broderic Martin; presumably a few more...

And no, not all of them will slide that far, but some will. And maybe some guys we don't expect to fall into the 3rd like Karl Brooks or Jaquelin Roy. I think Brooks is a GREAT fit and since he didn't get invited to the combine could easily stay under the radar and slide to us in the 3rd and potentially even the 4th.

Nah - we can easily find a nice player in the middle rounds, IMO. There's decent depth at IDL in this draft, IMO. Not amazing, but solid.

The move would have been for Anton Harrison or Myles Murphy.

I fully believed we were after an OT in the first round, signed a RT to an expensive deal, then get the LT cheap to balance it out.
