Ending of OSU ND game perfect example of how football is being ruined.

What a game it had been!! Comes down to 4th and goal at the 1 and half with ND clinging to a 4 point lead 3 seconds on the clock.OSU runs it, dives into the EZ breaking the plane on the last play!! Bucks win 16-14!!!

Just a few short years ago the fans would have been running onto the field in a state of euphoria as OSU walks off a great top 10 matchup. It's pandemonium....but nahhhh.

We as fans in bars, parties, our living rooms and at the stadium were forced to just sit there for 7 or 8 minutes while the officials dissected every frame of the final play like it was footage of the Kennedy assassination. And as ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS(see Jets Pats today) there is miraculously 1 second on the clock.

Now they have to kick the XP. Unimaginable that Ryan Day the head coach of a top NCAA program in the country DOES NOT KNOW THE RULES!!! Should have kneeled because kicking it has nothing to gain and everything to lose. If it is blocked and returned they could lose the game! With 1 sec left and your team kicking off there is no difference from being up 2 or 3.

So now all the OSU fans are more stressed about that scenario, except for OSU bettors. After more commercials they come back for the kickoff. ND attempts a crazy lateral play that fails and the game is finally over. But by that time the whole experience of that all time great game was ruined. As OSU fans we weren't excited and joyful like we were when OSU scored on the "final play" We were just aggravated people saying"Can you believe what these fn refs put us through" By the time the clock got to 0:00 there was no joy left, just aggravation and relief.

Crap like this is killing the game of football.

Yeah I've got to the point where I delay my celebrations on big plays until after I know for damn sure there aren't any flags.

What ruins football is an easily reviewable play not getting reviewed and then wondering "what if" years later. Cheapens the win for the winners, cuts deeper for the losers. It was a pretty obvious TD but also close enough that it should have been reviewed. I think most fans would rather they just get the call right.

You guys are making a huge deal over me saying fans would have stormed the field, wasn't the point. The point was the refs robbed the fans of that joyful feeling of the last second win. They weren't declared the winner of the game until a full 15 minutes after they scored on what should have been the final play. By the time that happened no one's mood was happy and psyched. It was just like "JFC it's finally over."

They need a ref in the booth who can see replays as quickly as the millions of people watching on TV and just call down to make the right call.

They need to get it right, but all the iPads and headsets and bullshit that each league uses is a ridiculous waste of time, especially when you know there's a good chance a play is going to result in a replay.

It might still kill the buzz for a minute, but at least they'd get it right and there's no need to sit around for 5 minutes or more.

Agreed. Especially for a prime time game. Review process needs to be faster.

Agreed on the review bit taking way too long, but, wasn't the game at Notre Dame? How many fans rush the field in a non-bowl away game? It has happened (Iowa taking the goofers goalposts was cheeky and fun) but is very rare. Also, this is Ohio State, not Navy or Hawaii, their fans have seen plenty of big games. Not sure they rush the field for anything other than beating Michigan or PedState.

I mean... it sounds like it wasn't a last second win? And the fact that there was tension is proof that the distinction was important. That ND was entitled to that chance on the kick off return. And if they had scored, THAT would have been a thrilling last second win. It does sound like they needed to speed up the review process but I just can't get worked up about refs getting a call right.

It's been like that for some time now. You can't go crazy anymore after any good play until the refs make up their ****ing minds. It's frustrating as a fan
