Settle Down: Look At The Chiefs Do When Games Really Count

We go through this every year. The team shits the bed in a nearly meaningless midseason game, and the board implodes. Some years it's defense, others it's Oline, this year it's our wide receivers.

Step back from your rage for a second. What has this team done over and over again when the lights shine the brightest?

They win almost every time.

The real season hasn't started yet. Trust the coaches and players who have won big games time and time again.

until Chiefs score points in 2nd half this team is toast.
They don't have a clue what to do. If they did it would have happened after Denver embarrassment.
Did you see Reid after game presser?

Something is different this year. I want to believe they will overcome it like always. This second half falloff consistently happening is a big red flag.

yeah, the big difference in prior years was: "hey, Tyreek has to stop letting passes bounce off his hands for an interception".

So yeah, it was easy for an all-pro to get better for the playoffs.

We're starting with turds.........and maybe you spray it off, spritz some cologne on them....polish them up........they're still turds.

Nagy as O coordinator. At this point the old Mike Leach quote comes up when it comes to mistakes:

I'm not one to overreact at all, but I think there's a large delta between "trust the process" and where they are now. They just lost a game in week 11 in the exact same manner they lost a game in week 1. And it wasn't as if those are the only two games this year in which those issues arose.

Football season starts after Thanksgiving.-Bill Belichick

We really are the new Patriots. Elite QB, elite TE, elite defense, one good WR, HOF head coach. My gosh the similarities almost make me puke but I love winning.

NE lost BS games like that a number of times. Then when the Playoffs came they ripped your heart out of your @ss. This is pretty crazy.

In fact last year's Chiefs team did the same crap. Lost to Indy and CIN. Only difference is the offense and defense have switch. (Last year the young secondary was still finding it's footing.)

Now the Chiefs are awake. Eagles are the media darlings and just beat the Chiefs. Now the Chiefs have a team to hunt at the top of the mountain.

Shoot, a win next week puts the Chiefs back in first anyway. Doesn't matter.

The question is...do we really have the talent that can step up in the playoffs. Getting there should be easier with the schedule we have but what will we look like against playoff teams.

Last years loss in Cincinnati wasn’t BS, team fought hard on the road and came up short because of a fumble and missed FG (Butker was hurt all year). Pat threw dimes downfield under pressure and MVS actually caught them. We knew we could pick ourselves up and if we played a little better we could prevail in the playoffs (and did)

This one is bad because we haven’t shown we can overcome our deficiencies. Everybody on offense is worse it seems

The problem is skill positions. You either have it or you don’t. You can tighten up routes, clean up communication, get a better play call ect, but you can’t help a guy who can’t bring down a ball that hits him in the hands. Some of the drops we’ve seen have been tough balls but this is the NFL. Mahomes is going to throw a laser. The touch pass like he dropped to Watson was nice but far too many tight windows hit with drops. That’s a skill issue. It’s not effort, or lack of watching tape or understanding assignments. It’s skill. Can’t fix that

Mahomes has a decade to throw the ball. He puts the ball right on them and they drop it. 26 drops in 10 games.

This isn't some one meaningless game problem. This is a big time problem that is likely going to jeopardize a deep playoff run.

Wide open receivers streaking to the endzone dropping the ball ain't it. Personnel decisions and game management in the second half has been abysmal.

The entire focus on the bye was the offense. We got 17 points and shit our pants in the second half getting shut out.

With Mahomes anything is possible, but if the guys don't catch the ball he puts right in their hands, our own players are actually negating Mahomes.

It's a situation that needs to get Un ****ed in a hurry. Juggs machine 24/7? How do you fix brick hands?

Rumor has it, Mahomes and the WRs took a field trip to Walmart after last night's game and started playing catch with rolls of toilet paper. They won't drop another pass the rest of the year.

I always lean toward optimistic views, and sure we've always had struggles here and there... but it just looks and feels different this year

Much as I'd like to, I just can't handwave it this time

Our 50 million dollar QB has been neutered by our front office this year so this is not a normal year.

However, Andy Reid +Mahomes +Kelce and a top defense means we will be there at the end in the AFC.

Saw some encouraging things last night and I actually have more hope than I did before. Liked the run game adjustments where we do power plus the counters for Pacheco. That thing alone will eat Buffalo's soul.

As far as the passing game, that's still a mess and needs to be tightened up. Toney and James will have to not get injured and play lights out for us to win it all but there is a path forward. Rice, as everyone notes needs to get more targets and unfortunately Noah Gray would be an improvement to most of the other rostered WR's.

Kelce getting beat up worries me but every team is dealing with stuff now. It's a brutal sport and we need to start stringing W's together now.
