CBS crew nearly came to blows with 'd–bag' Ravens fan after AFC Championship

Baltimore Ravens fans were certainly unhappy after witnessing the home team suffer a disappointing loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs this past Sunday. But apparently, at least one Ravens fan directed their frustration at the onsite CBS television crew.

Lamar Jackson had a brilliant regular season and defeated the Houston Texans in the divisional round to earn his first career postseason home win. Former NFL quarterback and current CBS analyst Boom Esiason and the rest of CBS' "NFL Today" crew were broadcasting from M&T Bank Stadium.

Esiason said that he, along with his co-hosts, Nate Burleson and Bill Cowher, were confronted by a fan at an Amtrak station near the Ravens home stadium.

Esiason went into more details about the incident during WFAN's morning show on Monday. Esiason began by praising the Ravens' loyal fan base, saying the crowd "couldn’t have been any nicer at the stadium and even in this situation, for the most part."

But, the former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback said the fan was a "total a—wipe d—bag." He also suggested the fan had consumed an excessive amount of alcohol.

Esiason added that the fan in question made claims that the NFL was "rigged."

"He decides that he’s gonna come over and he’s gonna talk to us about how the NFL is rigged," Esiason explained. "And he’s using very colorful language."

But he also noted that Cowher was quick to defend the integrity of the league.

"Coach is awesome right, he'll defend the NFL," Esiason explained. "'I don't want to hear this crap from this drunk a— fan that lost a bet' ... he's a Hall of Famer and will die with that shield," Esiason said of Cowher.

At one point, the situation seemed to have escalated to the point where Esiason contemplated getting into a physical altercation with the individual.

"I said, 'Listen, if he gets any closer, I may have to get up and effing smash this guy right in the face,'" Esiason said. "And I’m pissed off now. I’m trying to watch the [NFC Championship Game on an iPad], this idiot is screaming about how the NFL is rigged.

"We’re not gonna let anybody go after Coach Cowher."

Burleson, a former Detroit Lions wide receiver, then entered the fray.

"Nate’s ready to come out of his suit and ready to rip this guy’s face off," Esiason.

The chaotic scene ended with no punches being thrown.

"It was nuts," Esiason said. "And then another Ravens fan started yelling at this guy and then the cops came in."

I never heard the background about the fight that happened before the game on the field. Some noble Chief was attacked or had to defend the honor of the team against some stupid dirty raven. Did anybody ever hear what happened? They showed the clip on TV so quickly that I didn't catch the number of the Chiefs player who was the hero.

Oh **** them.

The Ravens wanna talk and be this Class and Pomp organization.

**** off.

You're the bully. That's always been the way they've played and it's worked for them. The Chiefs bullied the bully. This is the normal reaction when that happens.

Lamar choked.

He always chokes.

So what the Ravens taught us was "Taylor Swallows" and Lamar chokes.

I know who I have more respect for...

My buddy and I were heading down to the lower level to be at the edge of the field for the post-game festivities. We had to wait at the top of the stairs for all of the Ravens fans to head out once the victory formation was on display. It was kind of 50/50 on interactions.

"Congratulations."
"F you."
"Good game."
"Eat shit."
"That Mahomes is something."
"The NFL just wanted that blond bitch in the Super Bowl."

Then a fan heading quickly past us in a group grabbed my SB LVII hat off of my head and flung it down into the lower seats. He was gone before I even had a chance to react. I don't care about some verbal trash talk, but don't touch another person or their belongings.

Luckily, as the losers cleared out, I found my hat down on the stairs. It had only been stepped on a few times. Lol.

They can't afford proper lighting on their set and they make their on-air talent travel by train.

CBS must be hurting for $$$.

Handle your liquor like a real man.

And if you can't go find a corner to throw up in. It's better than jail...

The absolute worst fans, by far, are ****ing JETS fans. I legitimately can't remember a single positive interaction with one living up in Rochester, this was 2009-2012, right in the midst of the Pioli era.

Giants fans were for the most part chill, although that probably had more to do with them actually winning the Championship a couple years prior.

Bills fans were kindred spirits at the time. Two historically incompetent franchises just waiting for their time.

Patriots fans were fine, if not a bit smug and condescending, although it's pretty ****ing hard not to be when the team is that good.

Jets fans though, the absolute ****ing worst, and they didn't even accomplish **** all with Ryan and Sanchez except bouncing the Pats out that one time and making it to the Conference Championship twice in a row.

From memory, what they said on ESPN was that Tucker chose to warm up in the Chiefs' players area because according to him that's what he normally does. The Chiefs felt he was doing it to intentionally get in their way. Tucker said that Patrick asked him to move his stuff and that he did move it. Whether he did or didn't move it his stuff was still in the way, so Kelce tossed it aside. But then Tucker called it "gamesmanship on both sides", so something doesn't add up. Tucker also said Kelce kicked his helmet but I don't think the video showed him doing that, more tossing it out the back of the end zone.
