Jim spent most of his life trying to get out from under his father’s shadow. He battled addiction just like Bob did but I feel like he did a better job of functioning with it.

I’d argue he did a great job separating himself from the disaster that his father was as an owner, but he ended up losing to the addiction.

It will be interesting to see how his daughters run things now that he’s gone.

Rest in peace, Jim.

This is so sad but as a fan I would be thrilled. He was a terrible owner who was complacent in failure.

Maybe now Peyton Manning will acknowledge the Colts again

Probably not a bad idea to stay away from afternoon drug and alcohol benders as well, just to cover all your bases.

Irsay was a young GM for the Colts and he orchestrated one of the NFL's greatest all-time trades when the Colts acquired Eric Dickerson from the Rams in the 1987 blockbuster.

I don't really know the details and to be honest, I barely remember that Bob and Jim were not the same person. So you believe Robert to be a worse owner than Jim? On a scale of -10 (terrible) to +10 (fantastic), where would you rate each one?

Bob Irsay once fired a coach at halftime of a game. He also took over playcalling duties at halftime of a game.

He’s the sole reason Johnny Unitas didn’t retire as a Colts and in fact wanted nothing to do with the franchise.

He had a habit of holding press conferences while drunk and being abusive to everyone around him.

There are a MILLION reasons why Jimmy was a better owner than his dad, but those are just off the top of my head.

Interesting. The only thing I really knew about him was the move from Baltimore, and the tire fire during the Frank Kush era.
