However you want to rationalize it Sanchez was a junior with one year of starting experience. And his pro career has proven exactly why that's an issue.

I thought theres been evidence around here that 3 or 4 years starter in college equates to more chance of NFL success? But yea, there were plenty of question marks about Sanchez at the time, and ill admit I wanted the Chiefs to draft him.

I was hoping the Chiefs would draft and develope their own franchise QB which in my mind is Geno this year. I've been impressed with everything I've seen from him including the combine. Don't know if the kid could step in right out of the gate but he couldn't be worse than what we've seen here the last 5 or 6 years.

I also think there's truth to the the Smith story in that early on he wasn't put into a position to succeed either with sub par coaching, changing OC's. playbook etc and the personel around him.

Maybe we haven't seen Smith ceiling. I gotta think that Reid and Dorsey want to win and and forgot more than cp collectively knows about QB evaluations.

If we get a LT with the first I'll freak.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Bullshit. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.

The Chiefs could have taken Sanchez in 2009. They didn't.

They could have taken Jimmy Clausen in 2010. They didn't.

They could have taken Kaepernick in 2011. They didn't.

They could have taken Russell Wilson in 2012. They didn't.

Two of those scenarios wouldn't likely done much for the Chiefs. The other two, Kap & Wilson would have most likely seen the return of Todd Haley and Scott *****, if not Scott ***** and Romeo Crennel.

And guess what? None of those choices would have required moving up or down. Who would you rather have, Jonathan Baldwin or Colin Kaepernick? Donald Stephenson or Russell Wilson?

This year, there is no QB at #1 overall worthy of that selection.

So, the Chiefs should just say "**** It" and take a guy that can't throw until March 27 at #1 overall? Or a guy they clearly don't like in Geno Smith at #1 overall?

What makes you believe that Dorsey and Reid aren't under pressure? Didn't this team just have six Pro Bowlers but a 2-14 record? Didn't this team just lash out at an individual in TW, who appeared on the local news for a WEEK discussing his issues with the Chiefs? Didn't the fans organize and rally for the firing of ***** and Crennel?

I'd argue that the Chiefs have never faced this kind of pressure before in the history of the franchise.

Yeah, I don't buy that at all. As a matter of fact, it's clearly incorrect.

Sanchez led his team to two consecutive AFC Championship games and was one half away from the Super Bowl. Only Brian Schottenheimer's incompetence got in the way of a Jets Super Bowl appearance.

Since that second AFC Championship game appearance, Sanchez has regressed, big time. Schottenheimer was fired for Tony Sparano, who was also fired. If anything, the decline of Sanchez says more about the Jets and their coaching staff than it does about his inexperience coming out of USC because if that were truly an issue, his struggles would have occurred in Year One and Two, not years Three & Four.

If he wins a ****ing playoff game you can justify trading up from 1.1 and have a valid point...

What should clearly bother most of you guys looking for a franchise qb, is that the only two teams rumored at this point to be looking at a qb in the top 10 is the Raiders, and The cardinals. Not the Jacksonville Jaguars. No no no, they are going to give Blaine Gabbert another shot, not the eagles, who despite not needing nick foles in the least, have said no we arent trading him, we are going to keep him with mike vick and dennis dixon. Not even cleveland, who drafted a qb that is actually OLDER than alex smith last year, has a new front office with a GM that helped land Jamarcus Russell. THis qb class, is a joke. There isnt a qb in the first round that you cant take in the fourth round, and have similar concerns. The only difference is, a fan base will be patient with a 4th round qb much more so than a first round qb.

This will not be the first time that Andy Reid has been the head coach when his team drafts a player his first year, and the fan base hated it. yeah, they wanted ricky williams over donovan mcnabb......

This may be worth a read for anyone who truly loves our team

I dont understand why anyone really hates on this guy.
Forget anything prior to 2010 and you have a QB that has posted 2 seasons 1 with a QBR of 90+ and another of 100+.
If you even want to look back prior to 2010.

2005- rookie, 7 games on the 2004' worst team. young noted as saying in 90's "i left the 49ers because the owners were no longer interseted in winning games" (talking about Jed yorks father/mother.

06-16 games 16TD'16Int, 3.3k yards, a 2nd year pro coming into his own.

07- 7 games of nothing

08- Didnt play.

^ in 4 years hes played less than 2 seasons worth of football. Mind you this is with 4 different OC's and 2 HC's

09/10 both years, positive td/int ratios while being shuffled in and out with other QB's 'Osullivan' Shaun Hill/ Troy smith, thats 4 Different QB's !! on a single team in 2 years and mind you in year 10' had 3 different OC's Jimmy raye/Mike martz and the last OC for the last 3 games. Thats 3 oc's in 1 year. Doesnt that sound like a complete mess even more than what our team is in right now?

Where above is the contiunity. Where is the Aaron rodgers 4 years of no starts and under the same OC for another 11 years and under a HOF QB for those 4 years? Where is the Tom brady time to settle behind a QB etc?

Alex smith when he finally got a New regime in a coach/Gm/Staff, he didnt exactly lead his team to the NFC championship but he played a big part in it.. Mind you down 24-3 against Philadelphia, 1 half to go and he comes back and puts up big points for a comeback win outthrowing the michael vick that it seemed everyone wanted to come here.. If you say a QB didnt lead a team to the playoffs your highly mistaken on what the QB position consists of.. Didnt alex out throw Drew Brees throw for throw in the 4th quarter 3 td drives in the last quarter of the game and the Catch 3 that 49er fans are calling it? After the game Drew brees said we couldnt keep up with there offense?

Then in 12' alex leads the team to a 6-2 start and was at 100yards 1 TD against the rams before being sidelined.. The kid was playing for a Mike nolan and singletary both complete defensive minded coaches that had no idea what to do on offense which is why the 49ers have a great defense and now that harbaugh came to town alex was able to do what he did in 11' and even some of 12'.. Dwayne Bowe and charles are both better than frank gore/Michael crabtree i think with this next year it will tell us alot of wether alex is our future or not. But for us to write him off before hes even taken 1 snap for us is ridiculous.

See but when you think that way instead of looking at why he did "bad" its kindve ridiculous to even attempt to have the conversation. out of those 5 seasons not 6. Not to mention what was TERRIBLE? he had 1 season of more turnovers than TD's which was his rookie year.. What other stat out of those 5 years scares you?

I think the 9 different Offensive coordinators and 3 different HC's in 5 years is more terrible than his stats... I think you forget as well the 49ers changed ownership while alex was playing for the niners which is why there was so much change. I dont even think there should be a debate for wether alex is a good QB or not anymore after the last 2 years his record being 20-5 which i believe our franchise would kill for...

We are crying about Geno a guy most other franchises arent even wanting and people dont know where he will end up since we took alex.. And he hasnt even taken a nfl snap. and we are hating on alex who hasnt even taken a snap for our team..

Screw the past.. 11' 12' Alex was 20-5 NFC championship game under his belt. ill take the QB and go from there.. Next stop tag Bowe and see what 13' brings us. If we finish a crap year then its time to draft Round 1 QB.. i dont care about the 12' draft class seeing as the class is weak anyways.

Take Luke, if alex stinks in 13 ' we take a qb round 1 and we have our star LT to block for him.

What I see is a QB who couldn't do anything except barely manage the game for 5 seasons. Who had little to no success under 8 different coordinators. Who only managed improvement under Jim Harbaugh. Who's been ignored in free agency until the Chiefs. Who's "Improvement" years are still comparable to Matt Cassel.

If a guy can't do anything impressive under 8 different OCs, but looks adequate under 1 specific OC, logic dictates that the player is part of the problem and that 1 specific OC simply managed to work around the deficiencies. We heard the exact same shit about Cassel when they brought him in. And he proved to be exactly what we thought he was. Despite all the "Experts" saying otherwise for nearly the entire 4 years he played here.

It's not so much that his past scares me. It's that he doesn't excite me one single bit. There's nothing about him that gives me any hope for anything other than what we've been experiencing here for the last 40 years straight.

I don't hate Alex. He is what he is. I hate the fact that the Chiefs settled for Alex, and gave up valuable picks in the process.

Also... **** the idea of taking Joke Lueckel.
