****Official Thanksgiving NFL Games thread****

Three on the docket on this Thanksgiving day, 2024. In order of kick-off:

Bears +9.5 @ Lions (47.5)

Giants +3.5 @ Cowboys (37.5)

Dolphins +3.5 @ Packers (47.5)

Great day for a 3-team parlay. But which teams to pick? What's up with that Giants/Cowboy's total of 37.5 it has to go over that right? Intrigue abounds.

Reid used to be terrible at clock management until Mahomes came along.

Every time a coach/QB goes full reerun in a game I remind myself how fortunate we are.

Caleb’s a rookie; can’t blame him for losing track of the clock. It was probably as chaotic a situation as he’s ever been in with the crowd noise, his OC yelling a play in his ear, etc. that’s 100% in Eberflys for not bailing Caleb out and calling a TO. Gotta give your OC the best chance to call the best play and that’s never going to happen in a hurry up situation like that. And give your rookie QB a chance to settle down for 30 seconds at least. But letting the clock run down past 20 seconds to go is inexcusable for any HC period.

10 seconds into the game, Tom Brady is already Mute-worthy.

I fully support them not calling timeout. You need to save it for the field goal. By saving it that makes getting 10 yards for the field goal much easier. If you are without a timeout you either get a first down (not happening) or have to ensure you get out of bounds which is a gamble. Plus 30 seconds is plenty of time to run a 10 yard play and still call a timeout but for some reason they took forever to snap it then Caleb made a terrible decision with the play.

So you call TO at 20 seconds, what play are you going to run with no TOs?

I suppose you can probably pick up 5 or 8 yards and get OOB.

Of course Eberflus is primarily to blame, but Caleb choked in that moment as well.
Watch the sack play again. The tackles look confused like they don’t know what’s going on. They didn’t even pass set until it was too late.

That’s 100% coaching.

99% of the QBs in the history of the league handle that better. That idiot Caleb won’t amount to anything great.

How long does the FG unit need with a live clock? I agree when seeing how confused the offense looked, the TO should have been called immediately.

He stood at the line for 20 seconds as the game clock ran out

There was literally no indication he was aware time was even a factor

Its almost like every NFL team runs these scenarios every single week in practice for some reason.
