*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Nah, today’s rap, for the most part, is ****ing trash.

And I’m FAR from a rap hater.

To be fair though, I think that goes for music in general today. It’s all about singles and “hits”. Back in the day, it was about albums. Albums would tell an entire story. It was pure art. Now it’s just dumbed down trash. Obviously they always used singles to sell albums, but they put a lot more effort into the albums themselves.

That’s why I like guys like Kendrick and J Cole. They’re old school.

Also, Migos are huge on their own. They don’t need to name drop Pat to get listens.

This is way bigger/cooler than the weirdos we went to high school with who rap about the Chiefs spamming up our Facebook feeds.

I’m now 35 and still have guys I went to HS with sharing vids of their “studio sessions” lol

I don't view much music as "trash".

It's all just different. This song, this album slaps hard.

I'm not gonna sit here and be that guy that just hates on genres because it's not the genre I grew up with.

The beat makes my subs pound and my head bounce. I got no problem with Trap music. And I was a kid who grew up on west coast gangster rap.

I don't listen to rap music for outstanding lyrical content. Most of it, lyrically, is all the same in terms of what they're talking about. And has been for decades now.

1. Does the the beat knock? Yeah, we good then.

2. Is the hook catchy? Yeah? We good then.

I don't care how well a dude can spit bars if 2 mins in im bored as **** cuz the beat aint knockin or the hook blows ass.

Exactly. This idea that they needed to name drop Mahomes is just....out of touch w/ reality. I get it, you don't like Trap, but they're the biggest name in the industry right now and nearly every artist that's come out after them are ripping off their shit.

****, i feel you on that. I got homies who rap. I keep my comments to myself cuz im not a hater like that, but i laugh inside when they hate on mainstream artists. It's only mainstream because people like it and it sells. You're still underground because no one listens to your shit lol.

Idk if you’re joking, but that Tamba Juice album is some really good AfroBeats. It’s a whole different genre than rap. Some more famous artists in that genre are WizKid, WSTRN, Ayo Jay, and Tessellated.

I'm going to guess you've heard it based on your likes, but if not, pull up run the jewels latest album RTJ4.

I love RTJ, but I have not heard their latest album as I wasn’t even aware of it.

I’ll check it out, thanks!
