4.8 actually. Kansas is 56 out of the 351 teams in tempo. Baylor is 289th. They're a slow paced team, Kansas isn't.

Not sure how it can be any more clear than that.

4 possessions a game is significant. That's like saying a guy who bats .280 isn't much different than a guy hitting .240 because it's only 1 hit every 25 at bats.

Baylor pounds the offensive glass and that keeps teams at home instead of breaking out for fast breaks. That's all that's happening. I'd bet anything their actual time used per offensive possession isn't much if any slower than ours.

Their zone may slow teams down too like Syracuse. Still when they have the ball and in a set, they're a bit better than us and that's sad.

If only there wasn't a stat that exposed this for what it was...oh wait, there is.

KU's average offensive possession length is 16.9 (42nd in the country), Baylor's is 19.4 (284th in the country).

Please stop talking (trolling?) out of your ass. I'm not even bashing Baylor as a team, they're quite good and do what works for them. But they're objectively dead slow and it's tough to watch.

I don't think Baylor is that tough to watch. Mostly just if Kenny Cherry does reeruned things. Geathers is a physical specimen. It's fun to watch him play sometimes.

Baylor is tough to watch because of Scott Drew's maddening coaching.

If true, that 2 seconds must be laborious for you to watch. We are 125th in possessions so we aren't exactly pushing it

This discussion begins and ends with Gathers. He's fun to watch. Outside of him, that team is horrible.

An extra 2.5 seconds per possession adds up in a big way over the course of a game, especially when you're facing another team that's equally slow (and there are a bunch of them in the B12/NCAA now).

The NCAA has a growing tempo problem and it needs to be fixed to make the sport more watchable.

Those stupid fouls at the end of the game are what piss me off. Everyone in the building knows its intentional. Who wants to see a game decided by free throws. Let them play the game. No one wants to see players shoot FT's. We want to see them drive to the basket, hit 3's, dunk etc.

While I hear what you're saying, but since that strategy directly led to our championship in 2008, that notion won't go too far here (it would likely require a rule change by the NCAA).

oh I agree that without that tactic Chambliss shot never happens.

But, it would be the same rule for everyone. Self would adapt.

Just make it 3 foul shots automatically for any foul in the last 2 minutes. Never happen but still it is a bigger issue than pace of play. IMHO.

OSU/Baylor on now, ISU/OU later. Hopefully ISU and Baylor lose.

I kind of hope OU loses as I see them as the bigger threat. If they win today, they could very well be 12-4 with two games remaining (at ISU, vs. KU). Their remaining schedule before that is pretty easy.

But it goes both ways as ISU is right there too. If only there were ties in basketball.
