The fact is Cassel stepped into a record breaking offense that had come off an 18-1 season and couldn't muster 22 TD passes. Thigpen inherited one of the league's most anemic offenses (4-12 season), a new O/C, a rookie OLT and many other rookies and yet his stats almost match Cassel's.

That is more than a boxscore, that is just a plain NFL football fact. And Cassel will cost $80 million over the long haul while Thigpen is playing for the league minimum. Meanwhile, KC has the league's most pathetic defense and invests a mint in a backup QB. Nice.

I voted bad, since the poll didnt really give us much options.... I dont think he will be terrible, but I also am "not sold" (true fan'ism) on him.

Cassel is a "safe" move, Not a QB that will lead you to the promise land but wont embarrase you either... He is the kind of QB that "true fans" masturbate at night over...

Complete nonsense.

There is nothing safe about Cassel. He's a boom or bust guy.

What I can't understand is how people that are against Cassel are for drafting Mark Sanchez?

Not really.. Cassel but up good numbers in NE with that system and the talent around him...

How often do 11-5 teams miss the playoffs? With that being asked, I can see Cassel in a system with great talent around him, being very consistent but not great. Why against Sanchez? I not nor am I against Stafford, but we have seen what Cassel can do in the NFL, I wouldnt be surprised if MS or MS both have a higher ceiling....

which he does not have here, and he may turn out to be a fish out of water here in KC. It's quite risky.

Just like drafting any player at any position in the 1st round... It is very risky...

Nothing would thrill me more than for Cassel to elavate the talent around him and make them play at a higher level because of him...

He has people to throw the ball to, but you're right, they are nowhere near Moss and Welker. What's key for me is that we have a pretty good offensive coaching staff. If we still had Herm, there is no way in hell I would want Matt Cassel here.

Every great NFL QB likely has great talent around them.

I'm not against Sanchez, but the same arguments everyone is making about Cassel apply to Sanchez as well.

Fair Enough TGB, I missed the last 2 days of discussion over this. I really dont want to get into a pissing match over him...

Was I extremely disappointed over the trade? Sure I was, it was like a horse kick to the stomach... Was it the wrong/right trade. I sure hope to God I am wrong, Nothing would suck more to see this trade, which will turn out to be the most important trade in the history of Pioli/Haleys tenure, to turn out Carlesque levels...

I was hoping the Chiefs would step out on a limb and do something unCarl like... I got my hopes up on a drafting and developing a new QB, It was my fault and my fault only... I guess it shows how uneducated I really am when it comes to the Chiefs, I hoped in one and and shit in the other....

What makes Sanchez a bonafide stud being a first round pick, and what makes Cassel a complete failure being basically a 2nd rounder.

Both have one year experience and both carry big time risks.

Agreed.
Now that the local media has started it's Monday break downs, I'm hearing a lot of the opinion that several people here have expressed, that being "he's an improvement to be for sure, but is he a franchise quarterback for the long haul"?

And it's a valid question.
