There's a difference between believing something because you have evidence to support that belief, and just throwing something on the wall and hoping it sticks.

I can't think of a single person that claimed we'd win 10+ games that showed any evidence as to WHY they felt that way.

The people who predicted 10+ are the folks that predict 10+ every ****ing year, hoping they're right.

I don't know that anyone puts "tons of stock" into the year before, but at the time, people can only go with the information they have.

The Niners, for example, were universally expected to be a good team and win the NFC West easily.

I did. I called 8-8 or 10-6 with a couple of breaks. I expected then to double their wins from 4-12, simply on the long overdue culture change, which Hali confirmed, and coupled with enough talent to build upon. The foundation has been laid, and the results are showing.
