Like you, I'm sure Zach's a nice young man (hell, his Mom loves him), and this is really the product of a consistently "cheap" owner, but I'm tired of being the MLB's farm club. I'd like the city council to adopt a resolution banning Mr. Glass from the city. It's not like he shows his face often, but it'd be nice just to have it. It's time for the city to fight back - after all, we dumped a lot of money into that park!
Oh really? You don't think that Glass hired a "baseball smart" person when he lured Dayton Moore away from the Atlanta Braves organization?

Dayton Moore was just the hottest GM prospect in baseball at the time.

The Royals went out of their way to help this kid get his life together...I don't think he'll find the Brewers or their fans as forgiving as the Royals have been. I can see him losing it at some point & then everyone will say the Royals royally screwed the Brewers in this deal.

If the Royals didn't have so much invested in Grienke, it's likely they wouldn't have done jackshit.

It's most definitely a two-way street.

he literally got bored with playing for us last year, by his own admission, and mailed it in. I paid good money to see him pitch late in the year when he apparently didnt feel like trying his best. Screw that, thats gotta be worth some bad karma.

Thank you.

If you're not with us, you're against us. I never wish injury, but I wish 5 ERAs and .250 OBPs across the board.

If I didn't feel like he'd given up on the team last season, I might feel differently. But I hope he doesn't win another Cy, that's for sure. I don't begrudge him wanting to move to a winning team, and would wish him well if he'd handled last season better.

[QUOTE=alnorth;7271969]Not really. The Royals have never had a great minor league system in their entire history.

Brett, White, Wilson, Leonard, Quisenberry, Saberhagen, Gubicza, Jackson?? I'm finished listening to your moronic opinions.

4 guys in the early 70's, 1 guy in the late 70's, 2 guys in the early 80's, and one guy in the late 80's?

Try again, "moron".

You need to realize that eventhough some of those guys played together in the the major leagues doesn't mean they played together in the minor leagues.

Here's a quote from the star proving my point. This was a salary move. This team is a joke.

The deal enables the Royals to clear roughly $13-14 million in payroll over each of the next two seasons. Greinke is guaranteed $13.5 million in 2011 and 2012.

Betancourt will make $4 million in 2011, but Seattle will pay $1 million under provisions of the July 2009 trade that brought him to the Royals. His contract includes a $6 million option for 2012 with a $2 million buyout.

None of the four players acquired by the Royals is yet eligible for salary arbitration. As such, they are each likely to make less than $500,000. All four have also options remaining, which mean they can be sent to the minors without clearing waivers.

you are clueless. It was not a salary move. Saying "oh hey, now the royals have room to sign more people" does not mean Greinke was traded for salary. He was traded because he didnt want to f**king be here, we would have signed him to a big long-term contract.
