I guess Drue Tranquill must have believed more in the Chiefs than the Bills and the Chargers.

It's about roles.

I mean he's walking into a role that Edmunds used as a springboard to a MASSIVE contract and he has many of the same skills that Edmunds has.

Maybe Buffalo just wasn't willing to do a 1-year deal to get him back out into next year's FA market.

From his video, this seems likely. He looked around at the landscape, and it's pretty obvious what his best option was if he wanted to have a shot at getting to the SB.

The Chiefs have been to 5 straight AFCCG. No other team can say that.

The only team to HOST five straight conference title games. (The previous record was three. The Chiefs broke their own record last year. )

Lol, okay, 'host,' then. Either way, you can't get to the SB until you win the Championship Game, and the Chiefs are the gatekeepers of that game. Historically, anyway. Drue wants to have an opportunity to play in that game. From that perspective, it's not surprising he chose KC.

I forgot that guy signed a futures deal w/ KC.

That one season where they took Ruggs in the 1st and I think Edwards in the 3rd, by the end of that year I was pretty sure Edwards would be the better of the two players.

I mean...I guess I wasn't COMPLETELY wrong. He'll have a longer career anyway.

It's amazing to me how fast these guys careers can just vanish. Through 2 years he looked to be on a standard 2nd day WR development arc. Then in year 3 he stumbled and the wheels just flew off his career. Suddenly he's out there taking futures deals and playing on practices quads literally within months of seeming like he might have a strong career and a nice 2nd contract waiting for him.

For some young guys a new coaching staff/front office is all it takes to derail them, an offensive system that doesn't fit them etc.

I actually thought Edwards signing with us was a low key good deal. Apparently they didn’t think he was worth anything.

Eh - I think he's maxed it. Or at least where it is after that Achilles injury. I mean he seemed like a probable top 20 pick and then when that achilles blew (combine workouts, IIRC) he fell to the 3rd round? 4th? But for as nice a career as he's made for himself, he never recovered all the athleticism he showed at Washington.

I think this just is who he is. And any additional potential comes largely from the idea of what he was before the injury.

Sound depth CB; would be a solid 3rd CB on most teams depth charts. But I don't think you want to count on him for more than that.

I did too.

I really thought he'd be able to make the roster and have a shot to stand out. Just didn't happen.
