Yeah, the most biased KU opinion I've read/heard is that KU dominated and it was the refs' fault (followed by KU dominated and just went stupid in the final 2 minutes), and the most biased MU opinion I've heard is that MU's B game beat KU's A game. KU did make a couple of runs in the 2nd half, but they didn't have the opportunity to stretch the lead past a couple of possessions until about 4 minutes left. And outside of nitpicking, both teams played really well.

I've heard plenty of it from a variety of people, both on here and in other places.

I'm not saying Missouri is a bad team. I'm not saying they aren't a good team. But watching game #1 leads me to believe it will be a double-digit win that will come fairly easily. I could be wrong. If we lose, I'll take my lumps on here and admit I was wrong.

No. Full reerun moment.

The point I was really trying to make is that I don't believe a single voter (especially in the Coaches, but also in the AP) take their voting very seriously. But please, by all means, hang your hat on the #3 ranking and receiving all of the 3rd place votes.

I still believe KU is the better team. And I believe that Feb 25th will prove that. If I'm wrong, I'll admit it.

Do you think even a single voter will take their job seriously if KU wins on the 25th?

In my defense, I stated that KU played stupid the last 2 minutes and that Missouri hit some big shots to steal the win

And yes, I believe they stole it because KU outplayed them the majority of the 2nd half up until those final 2 minutes. You can't argue we didn't dominate the first 18 minutes of the 2nd half. It was 37-24 in KU's favor from the start of the 2nd half to the 2:04 mark. Prior to Denmon's layup, T-Rob had a fresh 35 with 2:22 showing on the clock when he decided to go full-reerun and throw the ball away.

I remember KCC and someone having this conversation before, about what makes it a blowout, but... considering Mizzou's road tests this year have been Manhattan (the day after the Cotton Bowl), Ames, and Waco, I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar game that ends with Mizzou not making the comeback. So, a ~10-15 point KU win that wouldn't really be considered an ass kicking (to anyone but r8ers, who calls every win an ass kicking).

Didn't see this posted so forgive me if I missed it.

Jeff Withey wins Big 12 player of the week

Kansas junior Jeff Withey was named the Big 12's player of the week, the conference announced Monday.

Withey, a 7-foot center from San Diego, Calif., posted a career-high 25 points to go with five rebounds on Wednesday in KU's 68-54 victory over Baylor before adding 18 points, a career-high 20 rebounds and seven blocks in the Jayhawks' 81-66 win Saturday against Oklahoma State.
For the week, Withey shot 61 percent from the floor and 79 percent from the free throw line.

This is the first time in conference history that four players from the same team have won a Big 12 player of the week honor in the same season. KU forward Thomas Robinson, small forward Travis Releford and guard Tyshawn Taylor also won the award earlier this season.

I stated a few posts ago that I don't care about rankings. You're the one popping off about receiving every 3rd place vote. My defense is that it's my opinion that even the voters themselves don't put much thought into the rankings.

When KU wins on the 25th, I could care less about how the voters place KU and Missouri on Monday.

It would be a nice week for EJ to take his turn at turning the corner to become B12 POtW.

I believe a blowout/ass-kicking to be something like what KU did to Texas Tech. Or what Missouri did to Oklahoma (in CoMo).

A dominant win is what KU has done to Baylor both times. Or same as what MU did to Baylor.

That's exactly what I believe will happen on the 25th.

I would like to submit "the two loss Mizzou team that beat Kansas head to head is only ranked ahead of Kansas because not a single voter takes his vote seriously" for consideration.

You guys really need to stop letting SG turn this thread into MU discussion. Who gives a crap about MU? We should all be happy that this "down" year for KU has given us the #5 ranking in the middle of February. How many thought this possible before the start of the year?

Agreed.

Apologies for rehashing all of it. Just sick of the ex-girlfriend obsession that SG has with KU.

Definitely very happy about what Coach Self has done with this team. They have far exceeded any expectations this year. I fear our lack of depth will hurt us come big dance time, but mainly because of the amount of playing time Ty and T-Rob have had to put in every game this year so far. The 2 game/3 day format won't suit us well.

Why won't it? KU has regularly played Sat/Mon throughout the season. Besides, there are more TV timeouts in the NCAA tourney. I agree that we have very little depth this year. But the way I see that it could hurt KU is when our star players aren't hitting. That's when you need someone else to step up and hit some shots. That's one thing that always frustrated me with Brady Morningstar. He was great throughout most of the regular season. But when it was tourney time, he would not hit his 3s. I hope Conner Teahan isn't the same.
