Anyone that is remotely rational knows the defense carries this team.
I'm not being disingenuous at all.

Alex Smith isn't a Hall of Fame QB. Period.

But the story doesn't end there because all people like yourself do is denigrate his performances, good or bad, and compare him to Brady, Brees, Rodgers and even Rivers.

He's none of those guys and never will be.

He IS, however, a guy that can win a shit ton of games and with just a little luck (i.e., health) can push a team to the Super Bowl.

Duh.
If you watch the games that's pretty accurate many many times.

He can win a ton of games on the back of a great defense.

Otherwise?

Not so much.

19 points is most likely not enough to win games. As I pointed out, the Chiefs won 5 and lost 12 when they scored 19 or less.

But to be fair, half of those losses occurred in 2014, when the Chiefs had shit at WR. Dwayne Bowe was a fat pig, Donnie Avery was invisible and injured most of the year, just like Anthony Fasano. It's pretty amazing that they were able to win 9 games that season.

Take a look around the league. When offensive lines struggle, running backs struggle and wide receivers struggle, teams, regardless if they're the Ravens or 49ers or Cardinals or the Colts, a long playoff push is unlikely.

Just like Denver and Carolina last year. And the same can be said for every team except for New England.

So, it didn't matter in 2014 that the starting LG was out for the year in Week 1, Avery and Bowe were invisible, as was Fasano. Kelce was just getting up to speed and the offensive line was a mess?

Houston had 22 sacks that year, so why didn't the Chiefs make the playoffs?

The Chiefs are 15-2 in Smith's last 17 games.

The loss in Houston can be squarely attributed to the backup guards, who failed to pass protect or open lanes for Ware, hence their weak offensive output.

Pittsburgh was a cluster**** on all levels.

Riiiiiight. The MVP of the entire NFL who accounted for 4,400+ yards and FORTY FIVE touchdowns was carried by the Panthers defense.

The lengths at which Alex fans go to discredit other QBs in effort to elevate Alex is absolutely insane.

Smith is always carried by a good defense you can see what type of QB he was with a trash defense under singletary and Nolan that's why fans were glad to chase him out of town when kap took over.

Nearly every QB, including HOFers, is "carried" by a good to great defense.

To think otherwise is naive.
