He said this morning on the NFL Network that "It's not about 10,000 yards or the Hall of Fame, it's about winning 2, 3, 4 or more Super Bowl rings with this team".

He sounded surprisingly mature and calm during his interview segment and when asked about Travis Kelce, said "He's a GREAT dude". He didn't talk about his play on the field but how Travis is so cool to everyone and is such a great dude.
Dude better bring his price way down then this offseason if he wants to come back.

Wonder if he'd take a contract fully aligned with games actually played...

Exactly. No one doubts his talent, he just isn't durable enough to make it through a season especially with what he is costing.

Sammy always comes off great in interviews, I always come away liking him a little more... super likeable guy, but I've personally had it with Sammy the football player

How Veach handles him is easily one of the most interesting offseason storylines

He's earned $62 million so far during his career and maybe I was fooled but he certainly seemed to be far more concerned about winning more championships with the Chiefs than being a #1 receiver elsewhere, so he has to know it's going to be for a greatly reduced contract.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/s...urn-to-chiefs/

"The person that I am -- I love to win," Watkins said. "Why we play this game is to win Super Bowls. It's not for stats, it's not for fame. It messes up the person I am to go out there and care about stats and catching balls. I think I'm a legitimate person in putting my teammates first.

"Earlier in my career, I wasn't like that. I wanted the ball, even when we were losing -- every time. I know how to control that motor now and understand the team goals and what type of team I'm on. I think that's what this is about."

I mean he either comes back for a massive bargain or he doesn't come back at all. We're not paying that guy again to not play football.

Whether he comes back or not....we need to draft a WR to plug in when he’s hurt.

I'd love to keep him. He just doesn't play.

If he does, he's really good.

He may see this coming offseason financially and think staying in KC is his best bet.

If he plays in LV like he did in LIV we would be stupid not to want him back, he balled in the SB last year...

Injuries have plagued Watson since his NFL career began back in 2013 with the Bills, which is why he was traded to the Rams, who really made no effort to re-sign him.

There's no doubt that he's a force when healthy and I don't think there's any doubt that the Chiefs needed him to win the Super Bowl in 2019 as much as they needed him opposite Tyreek in 2018 to make that next leap as a winning franchise and Super Bowl contender.

2020 was frustrating for many reasons, from Opt-Outs to continual and lingering injuries to offensive lineman and Sammy Watkins.

But there's no denying that when healthy, Watkins is an important piece of the puzzle. If he wants to play for a greatly reduced contract next year, say anywhere from $2-$4 million, the Chiefs have to make that deal.

Why do you care what his salary is? he could be paid twice PM's salary and if the chiefs still win that is all that matters.

If the chiefs sign him to a contract and it prevents them from signing someone else that is not Sammy's fault. It is Veach's fault.

Sure something like that, heavily weighted with incentives would be fine

But as Pesty and others have said, we need his replacement sitting right next to him on the bench next year
