It's horrible basketball, IMO. People are free to spend their time and money however they'd like, but I wouldn't waste a dime to see that in person. Then again, I don't have daughters and my wife would have zero interest in watching WBB. To each their own, I suppose...

Working WBB games was the worst part of my college sports employment.

Completely unwatchable.

So you've got angel Reese's out there who make a living out-physicalling everyone despite entirely lacking any kind of touch.

I think that is changing a lot. There are some dynamic guards including Clark who play fluid, which I think is way easier for the many like me who prefers the men's game. I think fluid is the best way to describe it because its cleaner and quicker movements instead of the herky jerky shit. If the game evolves into more finesse (and I'd have to think a big part of that is calling more fouls) I think you'll see a lot more finesse. It's a big reason why I think college has been popular but hasn't yet broken through yet in the WNBA.
Hopefully it doesn't evolve into the NBA. If it's not an isolation play, they're chucking up 3's from half court. Equally boring.

The highest percentage of isolation plays in the NBA was in the 1990s and early 2000s. This is when old men claim they liked the NBA. There are more assists and less isolation plays in the NBA than there has been in over 50 years.

Only because they chuck up 3's on about 80% of offensive possessions.

Agreed. Mens basketball is a bit of a mess right now. Especially now with the ncaa still figuring NIL out and how much quality went down after all these g leagues. They're operating on totally opposite ends where the NBA is shot chucking and the WNBA is all bully ball.

So for that reason, let's go OKC!

42% of possessions this year ended in a 3-point attempt. That's just terrible to watch. In the 90's you were looking at 15-20% so much more variety.

I wonder how much the wnba problem is like the 80s NBA. A bunch of relentless hand checking. If the WNBA allowed more freedom of movement I'd hope it wouldn't lead to three point chucking. But I think the more likely outcome is you'd have more guards unafraid to drive and finish. What both men's and women's sports need is more more more slashing and midrange

At least the fever are doing something interesting by pushing an extremely fast paced offense. And this year they seem to have less clumsy players who can sprint, catch and actually finish

To me the most discouraging thing was seeing what they turned Ant Edwards into. He's the NBA's best hope because he has such a complete all around offensive game. The problem is he's also a good outside shooter and teams have learned that chucking lots of 3s is in a lot of ways much more efficient

Anyway it's a shame Clark had to ruin her great performance with that dirty hit on Angel. If the roles were reversed it would be leading the news but the Reese haters are of course making excuses. And as for the Fever fans apparently yelling racist stuff at Angel. Let them keep showing their bigoted true colors and we'll see if other black players wants to go and play for that organisation in the future. Those bigots are just hurting their own franchise.
Reese and her shitty play aren't helping the franchise any.

Agree there. Now hes shooting over 10 3s a game. The dude is an athletic freak. Should be getting to the rack more and working on his midrange game. Be a more well rounded scorer because you have all the tools.

To his credit he shot them extremely well this year.

The first mistske is thinking angel is at all representative of women's basketball talent.

what I've seen is that the game has become dominated by post players and bully ball. So to some extent she fits in. There are legitimately good players like aja Wilson and Breanna Stewart that are super boring to watch. The game is so unrefereed physically that guard play isn't that exciting. The new guard are players like Clark, Paige bueckers, juju Watkins, arike ogunbowale that are legitimately good players and they are a major reason why the game is getting more marketable
And that Sophie Cunningham is smoking hot.
