Looking back on that game it struck me as to why Kansas City won and how Mahomes changes teams gameplans.

Baltimore all season relied on a strong running game with Lamar making plays built around that. Then they get a lead and their defense does the rest by stopping teams and forcing turnovers.

In the AFCCG they became a pass first team and that is what I call the "Mahomes Effect". What I mean by that is Mahomes is the gold standard for QBs in this league. Lamar might get his second MVP, but questions still swirl around how he's a RB playing QB, he's a horrible passer, and he can't go toe to toe with Mahomes and win in the playoffs.

Because of that it felt like he and Monken devised a passing gameplan to show the doubters wrong, despite the secondary being the strength of this defense. Despite it not working, they double downed on it expecting results to change, sorta like when losing in a casino. Unfortunately it wasn't until the final score that they realized it would not work.

Nothing else makes sense as running is their strength and stopping the run was this defense's weakness. Now granted, I could be way off, but that was something that I was thinking about.

Not surprising. They've been blowing teams out all year. Adversity was something different.

****ing Baltimore crybabies now pulling a bullshit complaint that Sneed tried to trip Zay Flowers during tackle when Sneed was zig zaggin back and forth and looked like he slipped. Richard Sherman countered that they should stop whining since Chris Jones was ACTUALLY tripped in the end zone and should have been a safety.

What a crock of shit.

When Baltimore went for it on 4th down with a lot of time left (and despite the fact that we did nothing in second half on offense) that told you all you need to know about Harbaugh's confidence in Lamar running a basic quick-hitting come from behind offense.

Chiefs-Ravens is most-watched AFC Championship ever, with 55.47 million viewers

Published January 30, 2024 10:32 AM

This year’s AFC Championship has become the champion of AFC Championships.

Via CBS, Chiefs-Ravens averaged 55.473 million viewers. It’s the most-watched AFC Championship ever.

It’s a 17-percent increase over last year’s comparable window. Which featured the quarterback-free (eventually) 49ers losing to the Eagles.

Coupled with even higher ratings for the Lions-49ers game on Fox, it bodes well for massive numbers on CBS, when the 49ers and Chiefs get together, again, for the Super Bowl.

But at the end of the day, he can't throw it when he needs to, doesn't have the ability to put his team on his back when he has to, and this has been proven time and time again. And Pat clearly lives in his head, and just made another addition this evening.

But another team didn't beat them, so.... meh.
I agree. He seems like a decent guy, night and day difference from that smug jackhole, Burrow. But yeah, the reality is that Lamar is just not good enough to win in the playoffs.

That is an insane viewership # for a 3:00 p.m. Eastern kickoff.

Thumbs down. I don't care if most of your stuff I like, that first line is sacrilege. No need for it. Do better.

Maybe they will rethink that and give it to Christian McCaffery.

Harbaugh always coaches like he lost his mind during Chiefs games.

Man...I don't know what you really do here if you are Baltimore. The Bills I get. Just keep moving forward and have Allen keep playing. He'll eventually get one.

But this was probably Baltimore's best shot.

I would love to see the all 22 on this. Something tells me that was not their plan but the Chiefs defense probably showed heavy run defense all game.

They're ****ed. They have a great culture and if Lamar is healthy they probably make a wild card every year, but the ceiling is capped. They hit it this year.

They do what everyone else in the AFC is doing. Pray for a Mahomes injury that knocks him out long enough that he's out for a decent amount of time. Long enough the Chiefs can't make the playoffs.
