To the Herm haters.

I'm tired of all the blame going to Herm. Yes, Herm had his share of blunders but the amount of hate that he gets is ridiculous. The biggest mistake that Herm made was underestimating the impact of Jared Allen. And I did too at the time. In 2007, the Chiefs almost had a top 10 defense despite their terrible offense. We know what happened in 2008. But we are quick to forget the defense of 2007. I'm not saying the Herm was a great coach, but he is not as bad as some here believe.

Just to irritate you, lets take a look at what might have been if Herm had stuck around.

-First the acquisition of Cassell never happens. Herm sticks with Thigpen and Gailey runs the system that worked well in the latter half of the season.

-The switch to the 3-4 never happens and the Chiefs continue to run a 4-3 defense.

-Most likely, no notable free agents are picked up.

-Tony Gonzalez remains with the Chiefs.

-The draft rolls around and Herm takes the safe route as usual and picks the following players:

1. Aaron Curry
2. Everette Brown (Herm likes this pick bc of the desperate need for a pass rusher to replace Jared Allen who was lost in 07 and the success of another small DE Dwight Freeney with the Colts where his role model Tony Dungy coached.)
3. Antione Caldwell (Mal Moore leadership award winner is drafted here) Herm kinda player. And can play all line positions but primarily C or G.
4. Louis Murphy (Herm picks a wide out for the needed depth and Murphy provide some speed.)
5. Jasper Brinkley (Tough middle linebacker probably starts.)
6. Andrew Gardner (RT tackle pushes or replaces McIntosh)
7. Captain Munnerlyn (CB and returner)
7. Ricky Jean-Francois (depth at DT)
7. Ryan Succop K

And to top it off. After speaking with Tony Dungy about Michael Vick, who has been mentoring Vick, Herm trusts Dungy and decides to give Vick a shot at backing up Tyler Thigpen.

Would all of this happened... probably not, but it is interesting to think about what might have been if Herm and Carl would have stayed. Again, I don't think Herm is great and I definitely don't think Carl was good, but I do wonder what might have happened. I do like the draft above much better than our current one, and I do like that we still would have Tony G.

There definitely is an alternative universe out there where Herm remains Chiefs coach and Carl remains GM

They continue to win 9 to 10 games a year for the next 4 years. Until Clark brings in Andy Reid in 2013

This is not correct.

Back when Zilla was white knighting Squirmin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards, I went through the final roster of Squirmin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards and Vermeil. Everybody agreed after Vermeil's final year that the roster was old and needed rebuilt.

In going through each coaches final roster, there were more players that went on to play 3 years from Vermiel's roster than Squirmin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards. You heard that right. Squirmin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards and his youth movement with his vaunted youth movement and talent identification skills couldn't field a team that had more guys that played 3 years than Vermeils geriatric crew.

Squirmin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards got lucky on some really good picks, but that's all it was. Luck. And as high as he was picking it increases the access to higher picks and more talent. But the reality is Squrimin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards made far more ****tacularly shitty picks than good ones. The idea that Squirmin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards is a good personnel man is nothing but a myth.

Moreover, I'm pretty sure Squirmin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards cannot do basic math, much less manage a salary cap. So GM is out. Probably the best place he could be is maybe a DB coach, certainly not a DC. He's entirely too stupid for that. Maybe he could be a scout, but there would definitely need to be veto power for someone.

GOD **** Squirmin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards and damn him for wrecking my franchise.

Your team had no chance to ever truly compete when the GM refused to spend a 1st or 2nd round pick on QB. Without looking I think Blundin might have been a 2nd rounder. Perhaps 3rd. But that's one in Carl's whole tenure.

Herm had enough talent to win and when Green was healthy a good enough QB to win in the playoffs. His poor coaching killed that.

I drive over to the Indy to see the playoff game in person with OPW58. We got to see Herm run LJ up the middle 35 times and it never worked. No change in plans once it went bad. A horrible coach.

I'm really sad that Herm never went on to coach the Broncos, because that would have unleashed Buehler's anger to "heat of a thousand suns" level, and we all needed to experience that.

I remember the year Herman Edwards and Damon Huard lead us to an improbable playoff game in the last week because like 3 other teams lost. We proceeded to get the shit kicked out of us.

That was once the state of your franchise. Don’t forget it.

Just curious, do you use the copy and paste method for this, or is it more therapeutic to type it out every time?
