Need to get a flow of players going and stop relying on this one and done mess.

Cliff was a disaster. Cal got lucky with Anthony Davis otherwise he's been a disaster with the one and dones as well.

I'm not saying it's going to be easy but it needs to be examined.

Couldn't agree more. KU would be KU with 5-6 coaches in America. Self needs to check himself and realize he's not the golden goose... the program is.

Yeah, Self had nothing to do with Tulsa and Illinois playing well over their means.

He gets $5m per and has the biggest recruiting budget and the 2nd most budget dollars (after Ville) as well as playing most of his games at Mecca. I am tired of people acting like he's some f-ing savant.

That said there's always the fear you could get idiots in there like what's gone on at Indiana and UCLA

PB and Bambi...

How many previous KU coaches have won 11 straight conference titles, 2 national championship appearances and how many sweet 16's?

Surely there have been others since it's "KU" and not "the coach".

The sad thing about a loss like this is that it brings out the total dumbassery in people.

For the most part, no.
- I don't speak for the board.
- Over the past several years, I just don't see regular season NFL games as all that good of entertainment. It's an incredibly watered down league and the difference between regular season games against another mediocre team and mid-January games is HUGE.
- That said, the past couple seasons of CBB has kind of worn on me, with the rule changes and games with 60+ free throws... but, it's not like the NFL where there's a huge difference between regular season and postseason.
- Not to say college kids are there for an education or any kind of bullshit like that, but they are still just college kids, and demanding March Madness success is pretty ridiculous compared to winning a couple CFB games or a few NFL playoff games, just from the number of games alone.
- I've just never seen college sports and pro sports in the same light... college kids aren't being paid millions of dollars to a job. They're paid an education and then told for however many years they're at school that athletics is all that matters.
- The Chiefs CLEARLY don't get it. They haven't gotten it for the better part of 40+ years. The Jayhawks get it and Self gets it. And yeah, for those reasons alone, the Jayhawks get more of a pass... they do win a lot of games.

I am having trouble following why any adult would compare the competitive landscape of the NFL to college hoops, esp Kansas.

Kansas has a great program and history on it's side, but that doesn't mean you can't screw it up. UCLA and Indiana have both made multiple poor coaching decisions. Kentucky didn't win a tournament game under Billy Gillespie. North Carolina completely went in the tank under Matt Doherty.

Yeah ... look at Illinois since Self. Discrediting Self and saying any JAG would win at KU is hilariously naive

I've got a grip, i tempered expectations at the loss to Kentucky. It's a miracle we were as good as we were honestly. Frankamp really started the chain reaction. He would have played major minutes.

JFC, what a reerun. The arrogance of people who think "it's the program, not the coach" is astounding.

How well did North Carolina do when Matt Doherty was the head coach?

How well did Kentucky do when Billy Gillespe was the head coach?

How well did UCLA do when Walt Hazzard was the head coach?

How well did Duke do when Bucky Waters, Neil McGeachy and Bill Foster were the head coaches in the 1970s?

Do you really think KU has a better program than North Carolina, Kentucky, UCLA, and Duke?

Being at a perennial powerhouse certainly helps win games and it certainly makes recruiting easier. But it's not THE PROGRAM at any of those schools. It's the program AND the right coach. And Bill Self is a helluva coach. Anybody who doesn't understand that is a moron.
