Russ Lande says Chiefs should "stick to their board"

Geno Smith has all the tangibles - arm strength, accuracy, athleticism - and has a solid football IQ. He has poor mechanics and footwork. He's super raw and won't be ready to start right away, even in the shotgun NFL. Probably not worth a top 5 pick.

He sees Barkley are the flip side of the same coin - VERY polished, NFL-ready, but tangibles are average. Higher floor, lower ceiling. Would typically be a mid-1st guy (15-20).

He thinks Pioli is going to go with another late-rounder like Stanzi. And he hasn't once said he thinks that's the WRONG idea.

I thik that combo would be damn near perfect.

Your preference?
If you guys want to focus on Geno, you need to be thinking about which GM canidate would take him. You are putting the cart before the horse imo.

**** that shit.
Nobody cares what you think, but thank you for calling me a dumbass.

All you have to do is look at past performances to show that this team has talent at all levels that has the ability to play at a high level.

I don't think NFL teams put as much weight on the last couple games of Genos as fans do.

The system got shut down, not the QB.

WVU had 11 HS players on defense and produced 2.5 yards per carry....

And they almost won that game because of Geno.

Clark said before he hired Pioli that he wanted a Pittsburgh style system in place.

If we hire Bill Cowher, he will already have a Pittsburgh guy that he knows he can work with as a GM in place that would come with him to KC.

He isnt gonna come back to the game without another chance at replicating what he was able to do with Ben Rothlisberger.

The big issue is his decision making against better competition. Thus, he might have to go that route where the talent is on the level to determine if it is the system and the players around him that's stymieing his performance lately.

29 TDs 3 INTs.

I dont think ANYONE is questioning his decision making.

Even Luck had bad games in college...so did RG3 and EVERY OTHER ELITE QB PROSPECT.

Geez...

I don't know at this point.

I'd like to get some fresh in here. Something not of the nepotistic, NFL entrenched shit that gets passed around every year.

I would love to see Marc Ross as GM. He's young (39/40), but very smart (bachelors and masters from Ivy league schools) and has done exceptionally well as Director of Scouting for the Giants. Played the game in college as a wide receiver (still holds numerous Princeton receiving records) and I like offensive minded guys at this point.

In terms of a head coach...I don't know.

I'm pretty sure Cowher, like Gruden, is done in this capacity. They have their money and are free from the pressures of the game.

Could a guy like Urban Meyer be lured away from the college game? I doubt it, and it would be very hard to match his salary there as well as him being the King of his home state. He's the veritable prodigal son.

Right now, I'd try like crazy to convince Chip Kelly (Oregon) or Brian Kelly (Notre Dame) to see if they'd like to try the next level. Both are killing opponents despite being the "lesser" team in their conferences.

Brian Kelly has done more with less than any other coach in the business at this point. His Cincy teams were amazingly competitive and successful. And what he's doing at Notre Dame is also amazing.

That's the guy for HC.

Brian Kelly.

Defensive coordinator is easy.

Dick Bumpas, TCU.

His defenses are amazing and his flexibility in schemes in adjusting to personel is fantastic. Look at what he did at TCU. They were around 100th in the nation in defense before he showed up and then the next season racked up three straight #1 ranked defenses. Dude can call a defense like no one.

He'll have to perform well when he goes up against Oklahoma, or his great stats will be seen as obsolete due to that was against lesser squads and not the top flight competition which he was played poorly.

*sighs*

This team does have talent. A lot of it actually.

This team hates the management.

The management has destroyed what could have been a very competitive team.

No, they don't give a shit right now. Because the management doesn't give a shit right now. Why should they give a shit when ownership continues to support incompetency at the general manager position? It's a trickle down effect and it occurs in any business that enables such managerial stylings.

You can have the most competent workers ever but if the management sucks, the whole thing sucks.

Management, coaching and quarterback.

The players see EXACTLY what we do...no reason for hope.

Players sometimes take time to not get overwhelmed in the playoffs. They just need the experience. One example ill use, albeit different sport, is Jonathan Quick. For 3 years he sucked in the playoffs costing the Kings 1st round losses. But last year something clicked and he had one of the best playoff performances for goalies of all time. Will he continue to do so? We shall see. But the point is it takes some people some time to click. You never know.
