It's on now. Geno Smith is probably going to be starting for the Jets this season.

Alex Smith will be the Chiefs QB for the forseeable future. If he's a success, we'll probably get five good years out of him.

So who's gonna win more NFL games over that time period?

It gave me hope that this team might actual be able to run a 2 minute drill when we need it- since most plays on the drive were no huddle.

The contract to Chase looks pretty dumb though- Brady Quit Jr. not impressed at all. The Ricky to Rico combo looks deadly though- lol

Don't think that one single drive in the first preseason game which was designed as "vanilla" that didn't have a pass longer than eight yards means that you aren't going to see deeper passes thrown for the rest of the year. If you want to see bombing with regularity, become a Lions fan. Both Stafford and Johnson are in the league leaders in yardage and the ball goes downfield often. However, they continue to pick in the top five in the Draft every single year.

Personally, I'm ready to start seeing some checkmarks in the win column with a regular shot at the playoffs each season. If that means a controlled, calculated offense that is based on ball control, time of possession and high accuracy, low risk passing, then that's what I want.

And I don't think that anyone should complain about Reid trying to get the ball into Charles and Bowes hands a lot versus trying to throw downfield all game long to Baldwin and Avery.

I understand that just fine, but all I'm saying is that you can't live all year throwing it less than 8 yards in the air like we saw last night.

And as I've said in every post, we won't see that all year. You eventually have to spread defenses out on the back end to open up some lanes

Team will start to try and take the short passing game away. That'll leave the middle open for intermediate routes. I think this is a good game plan that can work.

That's what I said. Exactly. Word for word. Is anyone on this site capable of reading comprehension or do you all just take a comment and then sarcastically stretch it into something your feeble brain can argue against?

On one play that broke down Alex lost a yard. Small sample size. What, in that singular play, makes him comparable to Gannon? Hmmm? When you make a claim, the onus is on YOU to support it.

Go watch the pats or the broncos offense. They'll take their occasional deep shot but like us, we'll live in the intermediate zones for our "deep" balls

Pretty good question!! It reminds me of when Smith was drafted by SF.

I think the niners had tim rattay, and the team was shitty then.

A few HC's later, finally found one that had an offensive mind, and actually played the position himself.

Something tells me if Sanchez starts this season, and they have a losing record, and they make the switch to Geno that Ryan will be let go.

Then there will be another HC, with his own offense or defensive mind. Which in some cases, will set a QB back. Especially a rookie trying to grasp the current offense.

So as a result, I have to say (Alex will win more in the next 5 years.....)

Some people dont want to admit it, but you need a defense that can help keep you in the game. You need a few weapons other than the qb to throw too, you need a run game to at least take some of the pressure off of the passing game.

The Packers have recently has been looking for a running game, and to beef up the defense, as well as the Saints. It goes to show that having to score 35pts a game is great if your blowing a team out, but if your defense it continously failing, you have to tighten up that aspect of the game as well.

Not all about the Qb. What help makes the Qb successful, is the working parts around him on all three phases of the game. And I feel we are definitely a few steps ahead of the Jets.
