Let’s talk about the Bengals (AFC Championship Rd)

Welp this game has been on everyone’s minds since the start of the season.

Let’s get some revenge goddamnit!

The problem is this has never been a first choice with the Chiefs this year despite having games where they were very successful running and have barely used the quick release slants to receivers, quick (not 3/4th options) flare passes to backs out of the backfield and using much less jet sweeps the last month. The Bengals will scheme for an increased usage of such plays and their defensive coordinator is expert at disguising all of his coverages against PM to the point of effecting his effectiveness and they should be healthy on defense as well for this game. This will be a huge task for Reid and Beiniemy to come up with a game plan with a likely less than healthy Mahomes.

This may be blasphemy, but if PM doesn't practice all week and is severely limited come Sunday, I would not at all be surprised if Henne gets all the reps this week, Reid puts in a game plan surrounded with him starting and using everything weapon and plays he is best at to get through this game. Not having anything but basically the 98 yeard drive to go off from the tapes may be to the Chiefs advantage against the Bengals.

The weather is going to be nasty. Bitter cold and windy and maybe snow.

Hard to know who that helps. Yeah, Mahomes ankle, but he does have a stronger arm.

Not sure what Josh was seeing there. Maybe he was having trouble seeing the defenders in the snow..? That white on white probably does help them blend in a bit..

I don't think the RB in the flat was a good option, though. There's a defender just waiting on that.

Best move probably would have been the guy down low on the right. He makes that catch, it's a 1st down.

EDIT: Actually, there were a few guys who were "open" on that play. A great throw leads to a TD on the deep post in the middle of the field. The TE running the curl would have been a catch and immediate tackle but still good for 5 yards or so.

Can the Chiefs wear white-on-white this week? Doesn't the home team get the first choice?

I think that play is the one that caused Diggs to do the sideline antics at Allen about being open. And he was ignored.

Biggest player besides Mahomes for the Chiefs will be Chris Jones. Burrow gets the ball out so fast, we need to get to him in a straight line from the middle so he doesn't have time. Our edge rushes probably won't be able to get to him on time unless somehow our secondary plays their best game of the year.

I think this has to be it on some level. So much of what these guys are processing is from their peripheral vision, and if you have thick snowflakes falling it's tough to distinguish in the split second you have.

I was trying to figure out what Diggs was going on about, but I wasn't able to re-watch the play.
