Make ChiefsPlanet great again!

Figured I'd get this discussion going sooner than later. Here's your thread to suggest ways to make this place great. This can be anything from new capabilities (though no promises on making anything work), new ways of organizing things, whatever.

As examples, I think we need to figure out a way to meet the desires of people who want calm, in-depth discussion of the Chiefs and people who love a no-holds-barred, in-your-face style.

I also keep thinking about ways to have more unique content, kind of like gblowfish's 10 Things threads. Maybe we could have people write regular features or something like that?

I certainly don't have the answers, but we might as well use the offseason to talk about some cool ideas.

If so, what is the theory on why he would do that? From an outsiders perspective, it at least appears that he lets his football personnel make the football decisions and he pays the bills. Is that not the case?

The common denominator for the decision to acquire a starting QB via trading for a backup or washed up veteran has been the fact ultimate authority over the franchise ends with someone with the surname of Hunt.

The other reason is Todd Blackledge.

When the Chiefs picked him in the 80s it led to the darkest times in this franchise's history.

If the Chiefs don't draft a R1QB in the next two seasons it will certainly appear more and more likely that a mandate was passed down from the elder Hunt to never invest heavily in a R1QB.

As soon as Blackledge was removed from the equation the Chiefs traded for Steve DeBerg and later Dave Krieg which was the actual genesis of their joyous decades-long tryst with retread quarterbacks and regular-season success.

Since SB IV, so Dawson isn't applicable though the others apply.

I'm sure that Steve Fuller also plays into that thinking as well.

The Chiefs drafted TWO R1QBs within 4 years of each other and both blew up horribly in their faces.

The Chiefs didn't trade for Dave Krieg, Claynus.

He was a free agent signing.

And in all those years that these QBs were traded for, did the Chiefs pass on QBs in the draft that were highly thought of at the time of the draft? I'm not talking about QB's who later performed well, (like a Brady or Wilson) I mean passing on a QB that was very well regarded in the draft for a known commodity QB during free-agency?

I'm not arguing the point, I'm really curious... because where I sit, I'd love to trade you (KC) York for Hunt.

So all of these guys were highly valued at draft time, AND they fell to the Chiefs, but the Chiefs passed?

You can qualify those players any way you want to. It is a matter of opinion.

But those are the QBs the Chiefs have passed on over the years.
