However, Frank Clark is a huge upgrade over both Houston and Ford. This might not have been the case if Houston had never injured his knee, but he did, and he wasn't the same afterwards.

Ford was just too one dimensional; all speed and nothing else. No ability to set the edge, no feel for stopping the run, these would've been serious issues going forward, especially as a DE in a 4-3.

And while I don't believe that Clark all on his own makes our D a top-10 unit, I do believe that his presence could make our front-7 at least one of the top 15 in the league. Which could take some pressure off the secondary, as well as having to acquire elite level players for our secondary.

The compensation both with draft picks and cash make me cringe a little, but then, I cringed more when we gave up what we gave up for Mahomes.

Wondering who's at 62 (I think that's the pick we have now)? Hopefully a true no. 1 CB or a no.2 WR.
If they can grab a starting caliber safety with one of those picks this defense becomes pretty good..

There are still quality LB's available in FA and its usually a spot young guys can produce in.

Defense is not that far away.

Shut up.

The only way you get better is by adding better players.

But i guess you'd be A-Ok starting scrubs like Ogbah, eh?

Kick rocks.
Kind of agree with you there, we are trying to win a Superbowl here and Clark is good but it's a huge price to pay. If he produces and is also good against the run, then fine.

We gave up less to get Clark, who's 25 years old and is a proven commodity.

I think the compensation is too heavy, but it's better to overpay and get a proven player than to take your chances after the best prospects are gone in the 1st round.

Yea he really lost that Peters trade looking back

And when Ford is inevitably hurt next year, I’m sure that trade will look like a loss too.

So what picks do we have now? One second rounder? Or both still with them getting a 2020 second rounder?
