So here's my plan. First, the offense.

My team is built for a powerful run game mixed with a fast-action short passing game that creates opportunities for YAC yards.

My quarterback is Kurt Warner, for whom that type of passing game is a strength. Running routes is a hobbit army of fast-cutting, good-route-running receivers: Santana Moss, Derrick Mason, Laveranues Coles, Chansi Stuckey, and Davone Bess, with Troy Williamson available to run our occasional fade routes in the end zone. All have speed for the deep routes off play-action, too.

Chris Cooley and Leonard Weaver are both good short-yardage guys out of the backfield, and Cooley might even play a little H-back/fullback, too. On third downs, Leonard Washington will come in as my third-down guy.

We have four pro bowlers from 2008 on our line: both tackles (Jake Long and Jammal Brown) and both guards (Chris Snee and Kris Dielman). Dominic Raiola is a strong center as well, and this group can run block like crazy and pass-protect as they need to.

Those guys will be blocking for a strong and reliable running back in Clinton Portis, who can carry the ball all day. When he needs a rest, we can bring in Joseph Addai to pound even harder.

On defense, we made a fundamental change in philosophy early in the draft. We were initially targeting a 46-style defense, which is why I went early on with two very strong CBs (Champ Bailey and Darrelle Revis), and two strong pass rushers (Mario Williams and Demarcus Ware). I then took Adrian Wilson as another of my many random pass rushers at other positions.

But then the opportunity arose to obtain Jared Allen, and I was also worried about my linebacker situation. So...the trade allowed us to make a strong shift in philosophy. Rather than have everybody randomly rushing, we instead went to more of a Steel Curtain philosophy. I put four very strong pass rushers up front (Mario Williams, Jared Allen, Tommie Harris, and Brandon Mebane) who combined for over 40 sacks last year. Yes, my front four AVERAGED 10 sacks each. That meant that I could then concentrate on linebackers who were fast and could cover.

Then in another trade I was fortunate to pick up Shaun Phillips, who can both cover and rush. So now my defense looks like this:

A front four that averaged 10 sacks per player in 2008
Two active back-seven guys who can cover and blitz strongly (Adrian Wilson and Shaun Phillips)
One sideline to sideline linebacker who can cover with the best of them (Keith Rivers)
One run-stuffer in the middle (either London Fletcher-Baker or Nick Barnett - not sure yet)
Two cornerbacks who can cover all day (Champ Bailey and Darelle Revis)
A ball-hawking strong safety in Jarrad Page who is going to be pushed by top rookie Louis Delmas.

On special teams, I went kicker early because I think my defense will keep scoring low, so field goals will be worth more in Super-Manatee games. For a similar reason, I took punter Mike Scifres, whose punts are rarely returned. This means that I won't give up any cheap return touchdowns. Conversely, we're stacked with good return guys, primarily Leon Washington on kick returns and Davone Bess on punt returns.

We're pretty much unbeatable.

I consider Greenville to be in the equivalent to the post-Herm Edwards era, but I think we match up pretty well against Bradenton, as long as some of my key players progress.

Your power running game is going to crash on the rock of my nose tackle, Pat Sims. While not yet a household name among nose tackles, Sims (not that Sims!) is a real space eater that had the best initial campaign among the rookie DTs last year. He has a break out year this season and permanently clogs the middle of my defense. If he fails to develop in to the black hole I envision, you'll have your way running, but I'm counting on Pat. Justin Smith is also a very active run defender, racking up 70+ tackles per year from his RDE position.

After Pat and company have engulfed your blockers, my active group of linebackers will smash your smashmouth. Jonathan Vilma, Takeo Spikes, and DJ Williams are all good for 90+ tackles per year. They'll be making contact at the LOS and arriving in numbers.

This isn't going to leave many tackles for my head hunting strong safety Chris Harris, who has forced 10 fumbles over the last two seasons. That's okay, he'll take out his frustration and aggression on your smurfy little receivers. Better bring lots of stretchers.

While Harris is smashing the short routes, Michael Griffin is roaming the deep secondary. Teams tested him during his rookie year and paid for it to the tune of 7 interceptions. My starting corners aren't great, but there is very little fall off from 1 to 4 (Will Allen, Andre Goodman, Jonathan Joseph and Tyvon Branch). I can match up very well in your 3 and 4 receiver packages. LOOK OUT HERE COMES CHRIS HARRIS AGAIN. Ha ha, your surfs all have alligator arms.

If you get a chance to pass. I'm sending DE John Abraham and LB Greg Ellis (oh yes, I have not even mentioned these two yet!) from opposite sides of the field. Think Neil Smith and DT. Tremble. I also have depth on the DL to give enough rest to the stars so they'll have a 4th quarter burst. HERE COMES CHRIS HARRIS ON THE SAFETY BLITZ. <--Whoops, did you notice that I just sacked your QB? Oh yes, I know how how to disguise my blitzes.

Now I have the ball. Chad Pennington starts the game and he comes out passing. Every play. I've got a couple of book end tackles in (future all world) Jason Smith and Jonathan Stinchcomb. Solid guard play from Justin Smiley and Chester Pitts. Hartwig can hold his own as center, but I actually think my best center is Leroy Harris, but I might have to wait a year to prove that. And I can use FB Le'Ron McClain in max protect schemes. Yeah your pass rush gets to Chad once in a while. Maybe more than once in a while. Maybe you knock him out of the game. Good. I don't really like him as my QB anyway. I've got stout David Garrard waiting in the wings. My QBs aren't great but I've got two of them. And by doing this, I wear down your pass rush to the point where your big guys have their hands on their hips and tongues hanging out by the 3rd quarter. I further wear your guys down (and keep drives alive) by mixing in a few reverses (Maclin and Hixon) and screens (DeAngelo Williams). Your big guys legs are jello. Pass rush neutralized. Oh yes.

Sure you have two shut down corners, to take care of Welker (well maybe) and Hixon (another breakout player this season, wait and see). But who matches up with Dallas Clark, who plays like a 3rd wide out? Then I throw Jeremy Maclin into the mix and uh oh, who is going to cover him?

Now you have tired pass rushers and a bunch of defensive backs in the game to guard my four 1000 yard receivers. Here comes DeAngelo Williams, running out of the single back set. Oh yes.

Marauders 1-0.

Crested Butte-Holes ... starters are in bold.

Overall, I think this is a stellar team with the lone question mark really being the durability and health of the QBs. Schaub is always a risk for injury, but I made the decision to trade away Cassel and I think it will prove to be a wise move, at least early on this season.

Offensively, we have a lot of options... great pass catching WRs that love to rack up YAC and a stone cold stud at TE with Olsen. The ground game will be led by the punishing work of Jacobs, with Kevin Smith coming in for about 10 carries a game. And, while Hillis is not your 'stereotypical' FB... his well rounded game brings another dimension as he can be a RB and a great threat in the passing game, which should provide Schaub with a ton of opportunities.

Speaking of keeping Schaub healthy, that Oline is pretty tight and it's up to them to keep him vertical and I see no real issues with them at this point.

Defensively, Peppers gives us the ability to run a 4-3 or a 3-4 in the right situations. The DLINE has a lot of versatility and they should give the LBs a ton of opportunities to create turnovers. We have a lot of depth up front on the DLINE and with the LBs, the plan is to keep them fresh and healthy with a solid rotation throughout the game when needed.

And, when they do pass... good luck having success against this secondary!

Overall - I believe this is a fundamentally sound and well rounded team. And, as I scan the other rosters and look at the starters... there may be 2 teams that can stand toe to toe with this lineup on any given week.

The cobras play a hybrid d of the ravens and steelers. It is an agressive D which dares you to run on them. With the intense leadership of Ray Lewis and the intensity of Rey maualuga. The pass rush is lead by two of the best in the league in Terrell suggs and James Harrison. The young D back field has tons of talent.

The offense is a shotgun offense running one TE one RB three WR. We throw deep short agressive in the passing game. Chris Johnson is dynamic and will add a lot of flash to this O. While disapointed bout the whole crabtree situation but we have faith we will eventually sign him. Mean while we feel confident in the future of Matt cassel and made a bold move to acquire him to back him up 2 vets who are willing to jump in case of injury or ineffictiveness.

As I stated time and time again this is a team so special teams was built to be a factor as well. We have arguably the best KR in the game in Josh cribbs. The punter is the underated Donnie jones. With the best kicker in the game in rob bironas the special teams unit is one of the best in the league.

The Glitz and Glamour of football returns to LA get ready cause it's gonna be a fun season.

Bunch of teams didn't finalize their rosters.

So far tonight, Hartwig didn't play well, but Michael Griffin forced the game saving fumble against Holmes.

The best kicker in the game didn't look so great last night.

What happens with all these teams that didn't submit their final rosters? Have you sent them all a PM Rain Man?

We need 'em to submit. I'm swamped at work right now; can someone tally up who's done and who's AWOL? I'll then send 'em a PM.
