The Chiefs need to hire a consultant with authority. It's first of all, the single greatest PR move because it allows you to fire Pioli today. You can't fire him today without an interim guy because the scouting operation goes to complete shit.

Fire Pioli. Hire a consultant. Have the consultant run the scouting operation for a year, collect candidates for GM, and start showing the media/fans that they are serious about opening the Chiefs back up to the fans. That is more than just a figurehead position.
