Reid says Geno not out of consideration for No. 1 overall

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
Andy Reid says he'll evaluate 8-10 players for No. 1 pick. Asked why Alex over Geno Smith: "Doesn't mean Geno is out of the water." Smiles.

Starting to worry about Reid's emotional state.

Just like any NFL Draft without a sure-fire quarterback sitting at the top, the team with the No. 1 pick is interested in trading back. Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to reporters at the NFL owners meetings this week and revealed that the Chiefs have talked to other teams about a possible trade for the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

"We're going to keep all the options open," Reid said, according to Jim Corbett of USA Today. "I said this when we had the second pick (with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999) and I was sitting at this meeting and (New Orleans Saints coach) Mike Ditka offered to trade me his whole draft. We'll keep it wide open.''

Wiiiiide open.

Trading back remains the No. 1 option for the Chiefs. When they made the trade for Alex Smith, they gave up a second round pick. That's a pick the Chiefs would likely be interested in recouping if they could move down in the draft. Opinions vary on what the Chiefs could get for that top pick. Usually a team interested in trading up is doing so for a quarterback but we can't even be certain that Geno Smith, who many rate as the top quarterback in the draft, will be selected in the top 10.

Dorsey: 'There have been discussions...'

"There have been some discussions with some teams [about trading the No. 1 pick] but usually those thing do not solidify themselves until it gets closer to the actual day itself."

What I do like about how this thing is shaping up is that there is interest from the Jaguars (No. 2) and Eagles (No. 4) in Geno Smith. Or at least we think there's interest (you know, smoke screens and all). If the Chiefs put the top pick up for sale, and there are teams who want Geno Smith, the only way to be completely sure you can select him is by trading with the Chiefs.

The Chiefs are probably about done in free agency, at least with the big signings. This is, for the most part, the team they'll take into the Draft.

If a trade goes down, when could it happen? At any time. But, most likely, not until closer to the draft. Deadlines have a funny way of creating action, especially in the NFL. If the Chiefs have any takers for that pick, I suspect something wouldn't go down until the week of the draft.

What happened? I was 110 percent right

Welker went to the Broncos, Amendola signed with the Patriots, and the Patriots went after Talib.

I could take the next 15 minutes to explain to you the Who, What, Where, and Why about what I just stated about Reid, but I know Sauto, that you'll just ignore 99% of it and argue about something completely unrelated. As I have first hand experience in knowing that you are completely incapable of understanding logic and deception. You come from a place where you believe everything is sunshine and rainbows, and that just isn't how the world works.

Which is exactly why you will never hear Reid openly say that Geno won't be the pick, or that QB is out of the talks for the #1 pick. If he drums up interest that he might take Geno, he increases the value of the potential trade by 50-60%.
this is bullshit.

You were totally wrong about everything you said about Welker.

So extorter, did Welker get 7.5-8 mil a year?

Three year deal at least? He's too good to take a lesser year deal right?

Oh and dumerville want getting cut in that same post lol

All that was wrong, hell you even speculated that Amendola would re sign with the rams in that post.

It was a total fail

Welker got close to those numbers, as expected, and the only unrealistic thing was the length of his contract, which had even the talking heads of NFL Network and ESPN baffled, like myself.

I also reported it as a 3 year deal because Schefter had reported it on Twitter moments before, I also updated the length of his contract in that thread before you posted in it.

As for Welker, did I not specifically say that if he signed elsewhere, the Patriots would look to sign Amendola or Edelman? And that if Edelman was signed first, that Amendola would be likely to return to the Rams, and that the Patriots would take a shot on Talib?

What happened? Welker signed with the Donkeys, Amendola with the Patriots, and then they went after Talib.

I'm not sure what part of me saying that would happen, before it happened, constitutes me being wrong about it, when it happened.

As for Dumervil, did I not say that the deal was all but done and they intended to re-sign him with a pay cut?

What happened?

He agreed to re-sign with the paycut, the deal was done, and his agent or the Broncos HQ didn't fax the details in time.

You cannot seriously fault me for their faxing issues you imbecile.

Right, you're from the sticks where people don't deceive each other, nobody plots, nobody schemes, the handshake is the word of god, and nobody falls on hard times.

Whereas the rest of us live in the real world, where we want to drum up interest in Geno Smith as the #1 selection, so teams try to give us trade proposals "over the top" of what we expect, so that they can secure Geno, while also forcing the hands of those who quietly "hope" that Geno falls into the 8-12 position, and forcing them to show interest.

All of this allows us to leverage the player against the deal, not the deal against the player.

But you wouldn't know anything about stuff like that.

That's a fraction of what I said. And he got in the ballpark of what I said.

Also, there were a lot of qualifiers in those statements.

For the idiots of the world, like yourself, are statements made within a statement that qualify the statement to be true, or false, based on parameters or variables.

Such as, "Danny Amendola will get signed by the Patriots IF (Qualifier) they let Welker walk and don't sign Edelman as his replacement, immediately (qualifier).

And so forth. Do yourself a favor when and look back at the Welker statement and pick out the qualifiers.

I wasn't making a statement as a "matter of fact" that he wont' take a deal under 3 years, or less than 7.5M per year. It was a statement loaded with qualifiers about the slot receiver market, and what the market would expect of a top tier slot receiver, and he got pretty damned close to that, despite COMPLETELY SURPRISING EVERYONE IN THE WORLD OF FOOTBALL AND FOOTBALL JOURNALISM. I was REALLY ****ing close to the mark on Welker, closer than most analysts were, and even they were shocked to see him sign a 2 year deal for less than 7.5Mil.

Even then, you'll have to forgive my memory, but I don't recall saying "Welker won't take a deal less than 3 years for less than 7.5 Million dollars per year", and if you can find me saying that EXACT statement, without qualifiers, without variables, and without interpretations, then I'll admit to being wrong, and that I was 110% right.

However.

The 110% RIGHT comment I rebuffed from your 110% wrong comment, stems from the fact that I described to you the events long before the happened, including names, teams, salary figures, and length of contract.

I was right about Welker signing and the situation following it. Amendola, Edelman, talib, etc.

Long before anybody spoke out about a Welker contract in popular media, I was suggesting 3 years @ 7.5M a year give or take the signing bonus and guaranteed money, and stated that almost all of the money would have to be guaranteed.

When I later found out that he had signed a 3 year contract, per schefter, I posted it. Moments later, he updated it to a 2 year, which I later corrected, and speculated that the contract would have to be nearly ALL guaranteed.

When the contract details came out the next day, I was right again.

So now, going back to the point of all of this.

You're calling me 110% wrong, because I speculated the events 110% right, but got the contract offer's off by 1 year and by 1M per year, less than 20% off of the numbers, before anything was reported.

And you're arguing this in a thread about speculating events.

Something I nailed in that thread where you call me 110% wrong.

Let me recap this.

You're arguing about a contract length and pay, in a thread speculating about events, something I proved to be right about, over and over again now. Sean Smith being the "Defensive player in the building", the players connected to the Welker deal and how that would break down, Dumervil's contract being all but done and agreed to (which you fault me for because they can't fax, but despite this, my comment was 110% true and unquestionably so).

So let me reiterate my point.

Andy Reid saying he isn't ruling out taking Geno Smith, is about as much concrete evidence as you'll ever get pre-draft that he has no intention of drafting Geno Smith, and every intention on trying to get more trade value out of that pick, than he'll get in player value in Geno Smith, or whomever he decides would or will be that selection.

If you disagree with my statement, I challenge you to give me information to the contrary.

Until then, Sauto, please learn how to contain yourself into one post, your enthusiasm for argument shows when you have to reply 3 times in a thread nobody has yet replied to.

There is an edit feature, use it.
