Now again, I am not saying this is the end of the world. We won a Superbowl with Clark overpaid and Hitchens bad contract.

And this one looks like it is 2 years essentially so the reasoning inside the building might be let's just get guys now until we restock with draft picks.

Still don't like the $$$$.
Apparently, there was some kind of bidding war. That may have been discussed earlier in the thread, I didn't read it all.

Yup. Our constraint is no longer the cap. It's player availability.

Completely agree. People don't realize the point you made about missing on WR's. We'll just have to see how it all plays out. Regardless, IMO it's too much $$$.

MVS will be helpful, but he’s not Tyreek. Only Reek is Reek. That said, some are acting like him leaving is a death sentence for the Chiefs offense. Sure, they may not be as ‘dynamic’ as they once were, but people do realize that Pat is 4-1 in his career in games Reek didn’t play in, right?

The only loss being that crapfest against Indy in 2019 on a Sunday night where the whole WR core was injured, half that O-Line was out and his dumbass tackle (Erving, I believe) stepped on his ankle during the game injuring him.

That was the ONLY loss for Pat without Reek. Other than that, 4 wins in 4 games for the other for with the Chiefs offense averaging 30 points a game and Pat averaging 300 yards passing a game. 3 on the road, one against Baltimore at home during their best season (Lamar’s MVP year).

The offense WILL be fine without Reek because Pat IS that guy.

Besides maybe one playmaking WR in the draft, the Chiefs need to spend these newfound riches (money and draft capital) on DEFENSE, DEFENSE and more DEFENSE.

Offense will be fine. Andy Reid is the coach. Pat Mahomes is the QB. People need to quit freaking out.

Offence will be fine, it's just whether fine is enough. People are desperate for the defence to be bolstered and I agree the personnel aren't great and a functioning DL should improve the team a lot - but for the second half of the season they weren't that bad. We didn't lose to the Bengals because of the defence, but because the offence sh*t the bed.

Obviously the argument could then be that the offence was also due an overhaul and to become less reliant on Reek - maybe that's fair. But I think a lot of people saw the preferable outcome as bringing in someone in the draft to complement him, rather than go WR by committee.

It could all work out great but it's undoubtedly a gamble for this year and the people convincing themselves they're ecstatic about Hill going are full of it.

I have full faith in Andy Reid.

Patrick is going to get his stats, I expect him to put up similar yards and TDs. We will miss Hill, but I'll put money that we have a 80 catch, 1100 yard wr on this team. I also wouldn't be shocked to see that guy get 9 TDs. That is what Tyreek has averaged over the past 6 seasons. It's just going to be different, because that person is not Tyreek Hill.

What I'm more worried about is replacing a guy that was as passionate and driven as Mahomes is. Dude was our spark pug every season we was here. That's what will be difficult to replace.

I honestly think this is a possibility we all need to be ready for.

But there's also the version where Mahomes is as good as we think and can elevate the WRs on the team. Give him 4 competent options and he feasts in a comparable way to Hill/Kelce/JAG-/JAG--. Clearly the Chiefs are working toward this vision and it makes a lot of sense as they have the ability to fill gaps elsewhere.

If I'm being honest, I probably lean toward the former until proven otherwise just because I like to set my expectations low. I think Hill papered over so many things that we can't really appreciate. But at the same time, I don't think retaining him was an option for good team building so I'm excited to see Plan B as I think that gives us a better chance for more sustainable success.
Dude I was thinking the very first thing you said the other day. I was high and was like holy shit, what if Hill made Mahomes look much better than he is and he was just the perfect WR for him. I dismissed it because I was high.

I brought up catch rate in regards to Josh Gordon, when everyone was talking about him saving the offense and being our number 2.

Show me where in this thread that I’ve “homered of the ****” out of this signing. I’ll wait.

I’m not even a huge fan of it.

So ****ing full of shit.

The way that teams defend the Chiefs now, they rarely burn defenses over the top anyway. In theory, this seems like a potentially great signing. A tall speedster on the verge of breaking out. I love Hill, but he’s a midget. It will be nice to have receivers that can catch 50/50 balls for once.

But they need to add either a solid vet or an explosive talent from the draft.
Lmao, did you ever even watch Hill? That guy got 50/50 balls all the ****ing time.

No, it's against common sense to bitch about every ****ing thing always.

It's against the rules (or should be) of being an adult to throw emotional hissy fits every time something goes anything other than perfect.

It's against the rules to make a bunch of false equivalencies and perpetuate untruths and cry like little ****ing girls all of the time.

This guy ain't Tyreek, ain't expected to BE Tyreek, and isn't being paid anywhere near Tyreek.

If we put a stable of quality NFL receivers together, this offense will hum right along, because three or four GOOD players are better than ONE great player, and for the last two years we've had Tyreek, then a big drop-off to a decent Hardman, and then scrubs.

Juju, MVS, Hardman, plus most likely a high pick will be collectively better than we've had at the position since we won the SB.

Not paying Tyreek the most in the NFL was the only responsible move Veach had, and he got a haul in return. There really was NO responsible alternative, so quit your cryin'.

It's going to be fine.

Whoever the pick is, I hope it's someone that can operate in the RZ.

This signing just feels like a knee jerk reaction to losing a speed threat, but we still had Hardman.
