Can't believe the regular season starts tonight. Just seemed like the Finals ended a couple weeks ago.

the difference between MJ and LeBron

had a chance to play with barkley and stopped it just because

https://www.basketballnetwork.net/ol...harles-barkley

Quote:
When Scottie Pippen asked the Chicago Bulls to trade him in 1997, the team considered trading him to the Houston Rockets for Charles Barkley.

At that time, it was rumored that Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler had grown tired of Barkley’s off-court antics. Shipping him to Chicago was one of their options. But before the teams could even start discussing which players to add to the deal to match salaries, Michael Jordan was the first to oppose it.

According to a report from the Chicago Tribune, MJ didn’t want to play with Barkley.

"No, no, no," Jordan said. "Charles needs to stay right where he is. I love him like a brother, but I don't think I could play with him."

MJ and Sir Charles got to know each other when they played at the 1984 Olympic Trials. Soon after, they became good friends who treated each other like brothers. During a 2005 interview with Oprah, Barkley called MJ his older brother despite Jordan being only three days older.

Although Jordan didn’t say why he didn’t want to play with Barkley in 1997, an interview with Jackie McMullan for Icons Club last year may have given away MJ’s reason. When asked what he thought of Barkley and the Phoenix Suns during the 1993 NBA Finals, Jordan said:

“I wasn’t worried about Barkley. Cause I didn’t think he had the work ethic to beat us. And because I think he didn’t like to practice. But he was a genuine friend, don’t get me wrong! I also thought he was very funny, I enjoyed spending time with him. We liked playing golf.”

Jordan wasn’t the only guy who commented about Sir Charles' practice habits or the lack thereof. Robert Horry said Barkley didn’t like to practice, while Jayson Williams talked about how The Round Mound of Rebound came to practice but did not practice. Since MJ and Charles were close, he probably knew all of that, so Barkley wouldn’t have been good for the Bulls’ Last Dance.

The Rockets still ended up getting Pippen

But while Houston failed to acquire Pippen for Barkley in 1997, the Rockets still ended up getting Scottie after the Bulls won their 6th championship, and they did so for so much less, giving up only bench forward Roy Rogers and a second-round pick.

In Houston, Pippen joined a Rockets team that had Hakeem Olajuwon and Barkley. Despite having three superstars, they finished 31-19 during the lockout-shortened season and were ousted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs.

Shortly after the end of the season, Pippen demanded to be traded, and he was shipped to Portland. Barkley criticized Pippen for wanting out after just one season. After his departure, Scottie made a remark about Barkley:

"I probably should have listened to Michael a year ago when he said that Charles never will win a championship because he doesn't show any dedication.”

The season after Pippen left turned out to be Barkley’s last as he ruptured his left quadriceps tendon on December 8, 1999. He would return from the injury to play one final game before calling it a career after 16 years.

2 points and 1 rebound sounds like something Lebron does in the closing minutes of a Finals game.

James scored 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting in the fourth quarter in captaining the comeback and eventual 103-100 overtime victory against the San Antonio Spurs Tuesday night. Now, the 2013 NBA Finals carry on to a Game 7 on Thursday night.
