2016 KC Chiefs Goat(s)

Every year there a few Chiefs who I start out being kind of "down" on. You know, guys who are supposed to be better than their performance, or new guys who you just can't warm up to.....so, you don't exactly hate 'em, but you watch them with suspicion.

Examples of prior such "goats" include:

Alex - Too darned risk averse (i.e. deflated balls)
Fisher - Expected more of a #1 pick
Ford - Terrible at everything except first step
Wilson - Won't dive for the ball
Sorensen - Not fast enough
Parker - Misses too many tackles
DAT - Timid
Fleming - Too toasty
Gaines - Brittle
Santos - Any kicker can qualify to be disliked with a couple of bad kicks
Colquitt - See above
Etc.

Anyway, this year, the guy I'm most "down" on is Mr Dee Ford. I think the guy has a ton of physical talent, but I question his football IQ and his dedication to the sport. Yeah, perhaps he's a new man this year, but I'm gonna have to see it to believe it.

Second on my list this year is DAT. Hard to fathom what the heck happened at the end of last year. Does the guy really want to be here?

My third guy is Knile Davis. Guy has some talent, but puts the ball on the rug way too much. Hold onto the fricking ball!

So, who do you have a wayward eye on this year? Fire away, lads.

Ah, an admirable attitude, jimi. I guess I just can't overcome my concerns about Dee Ford.

I'm having a hard time finding anything about that. What type of injury was it? I don't remember any mention of this from that draft that year, so I'm assuming it wasn't an ACL tear.

It's ridiculous that you're using that to make your point either way. Frank Gore had two ACL injuries back in college and had a long NFL career. You're a ****ing idiot that thinks this is 2005 and ACL injuries are a big deal too.

Give me one example of a guy under 30 that has had trouble coming back from an ACL injury in the past couple years.

agree to disagree bro

we have two very injury prone players coming back from major surgery...foolish IMHO to assume they will be 100%

Ok, but you didn't answer my question. What knee injury did Houston have in college? Looks like he missed a total of 3 games his entire career, so I'm going to assume you're trolling unless you provide an answer.

Chris Jones, didn't like the pick and still don't like the pick. Hopefully he proves me wrong, but I'm usually right about most things.

I'm going to go with the collective "who is the #2 receiver behind Maclin" group. If Maclin gets dinged again and/or Kelce, we don't put fear into defenses in the passing game. Someone needs to step up.

I am not "down" on any players but would like to see many of them take the next step to greatness.

Kelce- I am very impressed with this guy off the field-he does a lot for charity and seems to work hard. I think this is the year he breaks into that Super star status and is in the same conversation as Gronk. Kelce creates mismatches all over the field with his size and speed. I hope the Chiefs make him more of a focal point to the offense this year-especially in the Red Zone.

Alex- hard to be down on a guy that led us to such an amazing playoff win. I would like to see 90% less check down passes from him this year. His yards per game needs to go up from being near the bottom. Most game he didn't even break 250 yards. He should have tons of talent to get the pressure off him and a better O line. Is this the year he puts himself in the Chiefs ring of honor by winning us a championship?

J.C. and the rest of our running backs. I want to see Andy use these guys more. We have one of the best stable of RB's in the AFC in my opinion. I want to see these guys ground and pound teams into submission. I can't wait to see if JC comes back strong-I love watching him run.

Houston-very anxious to see him on the field again. I hope he is the same player.

Andy- always a bridesmaid and never a bride. It is time for him to put all his clock management mistakes and ultra conservative offense behind him. He will be fielding the Best team of his coaching career this year (at least on paper) so it is time to ascend to the ranks of Championship coaches. Let's go Big Red!!

I'm going to just pick the whole RG position.

I'm not down with it. It's proven fail with rare moments of solid and great mixed in...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
