Even though DJ was sitting there to be taken King Carl tried to blow this and trade down (according to ESPN) I'm very happy to see he didn't get a chance to blow this.

We got a top notch OLB that will hit someone hard.

No, I really can't. Some had DJ as the top player coming out of college. I believe he is definitely the best LBer prospect in this year's draft without a doubt. He brings it every play and plays with a chip on his shoulder. I'm so very stoked. I was getting goosebumps watching his hightlight film. Derrick "lights-out" Johnson has nice ring to it, don't you think? Great pick-up.

this isn't supposed to happen to the Chiefs....argueably the best D player in the draft, and an OLB, falls to us at 15.....


in Bell and Johnson we now have FREAKY talent in our LB core....compare to Beisel and Mitchell....

There's a chance - a chance, mind you - that having this kind of talent at linebacker could really, really elevate the play of whomever the third linebacker on the field is, whether it's Fujita, Fox, Mitchell. Whoever.

It could (and probably will) also help both the d-line and the secondary.

I tell you what, this defense could be completely different in 2005. I think there's a legitimate chance that we make a drastic jump in play. We've gone from Eric Hicks and Jerome Woods being our best talent *cough* to teams having to account for not just one, but several pro bowl calibre players.

I absolutely agree.

Imho, two player benefit most: Fujita (if he plays) and Warfield.

Both are now what they should have always been: role players.

Warfield is a solid #2 CB now flanked and protected by Surtain and Knight....Fujita is now the 3rd best LB, which is fine.

Our DL, as a whole, will look better against the run because of our LBs...even though I still think Hicks and Sims are huge liabilities.

A valid point ole wise one. Maybe the planets are aligning and this is really our Super Bowl year? Even though King Carl did nothing to get DJ other than not screw it up this is a happy time and hopefully a very happy coming season. I will lay off King Carl for a while as I don't want to rain on the parade.

But if DJ is a hold out and King Carl pulls his tough SOB crap all bets are off. j/k

Might want to work on those back-handed complements. There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it, this has been as good an offseason as any team could possibly hope for. The front office has done more than I think anyone expected them to do. They've been open from day 1 about what they wanted, and they've gotten every single thing.
