****ing realtors. Looks to me like they owe the property owner a couple of gaming consoles. They have the right to show the house but not unsupervised to rummage. It's not sold till the closing is final.

So, uh I have to ask.... It's been a long time since I lived in the KC area. Every time I've been back it's just worse and worse...are there ANY nice areas (at least on the Missouri side)? It seems like everywhere I drive though is just really run down. It's kind of sad. I don't know if it was like that in the 80s when I was a kid and I was just too young to notice or if it has just gone completely downhill.

It wasn’t that bad in the 80s even into the mid 90s. I remember going to Bannister Mall all the time and working at the Olive Garden near there and it was decent at the time.

Are you talking about Grandview? Or all of the Missouri side of the metro?

Because as mentioned Lee’s Summit and Blue Springs are great suburbs. Parkville and North KC also.

In the city, the traditional residential neighborhoods are what they’ve always been. The premium areas are still premium areas (West Plaza, Crestwood, Hyde Park, Brookside, etc.) good residential neighborhoods are still good (Waldo, Roanoke, Valentine, south Hyde park, red bridge, wood bridge).

It’s easy to shit on the city and there are areas that deserve it, but there are plenty of strong neighborhoods. Public school options are better than they’ve been in decades and continue to improve.

Even the much-maligned Grandview has actually shown good growth and is trending up. Truman Corners has been cleaned up. The Main Street corridor is charming (and home to the best DMV office in the state).

Grandview was always a little shady in areas along with Belton due to when Richards Gebauer AFB and the shady elements that were brought outside the base. When it closed the city made it section 8 housing which compounded problems for those towns.
