Please don't try to make distinctions. It muddies Reerun's black and white world.

You either hated Herm and were willing to condemn prior to him ever coaching a game, or you think he's Jesus Christ. Middle ground is for pussies.

Herm plays to win the game. he even said so in New York. You must be confusing him with a different coach that plays to tie the game.

Good thing I didnt care for him when he was at NY either. I would hate to cloud my judgement just because he is the coach of the chiefs.

Sucks to say, No matter how much we bitch, grip, try and sound intelligent of a freaking internet board. We are stuck with him and a new 5 year plan for now.

I'm not talking about how much you hate Herm.

I'm talking about how you characterize those who don't hate him yet...

People who don't yet hate Herm are like the people in Field of Dreams who couldn't see the baseball players.

They will come.

We'll save room for you on the bleachers.

There's a good reason that I haven't yet joined you on those bleachers, considering how I really feel about Herm.

See, I watched a fair amount of Cleveland football (as much as was possible at the time) back in the day. I used them alot in Tecmo Bowl and became familiar with some of the players, so it was fun to watch them.

I hated Marty when he came here. I told people around me when he was hired that he was a born loser. I just knew that he'd never get the Chiefs to the Super Bowl. I was so against the hire that I bitched incessantly about it and said that I would never again have hope for this team until he was gone.

He was here for TEN YEARS.

It's just not worth it to me to hate Herm. For all I know, he's gonna be here for a decade and that's a decade I can't get back. So I'm just gonna enjoy it as much as possible and if we suck, we suck.

Exactly! By choice, in my mind he is a great coach until he is no longer the KC coach. Jets fans can just go home and try to knock their Herm chip off their own shoulder.

I find it enjoyable to make fun of his dumb decisions like wearing all white at home and not publicly speaking out against the Geathers hit.

I'm afraid if I am going to find some enjoyment in watching a team win and perhaps having a shot at the postseason I'll have to pull for my 2nd distant favorite team. It certainly doesn't look like KC this year - and no, it's not all Herm's fault. I haven't blamed him for the loss in week 1. IMO, it wasn't his fault. I don't think any team can win with its 2nd and 3rd string tackles playing and when the starting QB goes down.

Herm doesn't call the plays on O or D, he isn't responsible for in game adjustments that aren't made. He is supposed to be a good head coach for his ability to rally the troops and get players to play hard for him. So far, with criticism of his coordinator and not taking Trent's back I don't even see that leadership quality. Instead, I see a massive train wreck.

As Bob Gretz prepared us weeks ago, it is a year of transition.

A rep-worthy analysis if there ever was one. I am one of the Herm-bashers/haters. No, I don't want us to fail, because it gives me no joy to say "I told you so" in this circumstance. I just think that Herm is incompetent, he's proved it in his game management, and he's proved it in the way that he has coached in important games. He reminds me of a poker player who is just content to get in the money, but never wants to take the risks necessary to win (look at the way he managed the Jets/Steelers playoff game two years ago for evidence of that). His lack of calling out the refs for their general stupidity and blindly partisan officiating just shows how conservative he is, if not cowardly. "We are told not to comment on those things." Give me a break. He's making 5 million a year, and doesn't want to risk 25 grand to send a message to his team about will and won't be tolerated? Moreover, even if he would have ripped Nemmers' dumbass, the organization would have most likely reimbursed him for the fine.

You lead by example, and it is quite obvious that the example that this year's team has learned is one of softness (witness the Country Club Camp) and unacccountablity mixed with double speak (as shown by him passing off blame on Solari, deserting his last team, and acting as though he was going to hold players' feet to the fire for their mistakes) This guy is a consummate politician. That's why the media loves him, and he never seems to get results.

Herm is a Company guy in that doesn't really take a stand in many situations. Push-over may be too strong of a word but I think his primary focus is to be liked, whether its players, the media, or people around the league. He's the type of coach that if a an opposing player talks crap about you all week b/f a game, Herm will go over to him and be buddy buddy b/f warm-ups. If the NFL somehow makes an arbitration ruling against a Herm coached team, Herm will make a point to show everybody he is buddy buddy w/ the commish. If a player is late for a meeting Herm may give him a light scolding but he'll make him game captain as well.
