WR in the 1st or the 2nd?

Projected 1st round WRs*:

Dwayne Bowe
Dwayne Jarrett
Robert Meachem
Ted Ginn
Sidney Rice

Projected 2nd round WRs:

Anthony Gonzalez
Steve Smith
Craig Davis
Jason Hill

Is there that much of a difference between the first rounders and the second rounders?

I've been trumpeting our need to draft a WR in the 1st, but after scanning that group of likely 2nd rounders, I'm starting to waver. Was looking for your thoughts on the disparity between the first rounders and the second rounders. It doesn't look that bad.

*Calvin Johnson excluded, since the Chiefs have no chance at him.

so lets just go after those wide receivers and then you can make excuses all year about how it's the offensive line that is the problem, not herm or the WR's.

just like all of last year

year 2009 ...... we'll still be looking for an offensive good enough to make Herm's offense not look like shit.
History does prove I'm right. Thanks for noticing.

Herm has a MUCH better history acquiring WR's in the draft with the Jets than Vermeil did here. That's a FACT.

You know, all sarcastic snipes aside, you made a VERY good point without even noticing it.

The situation we're in now on offense is a DIRECT result of DV's failures to draft DEFENSE. They continued every year to try to get by with what they had while dedicating every draft to upgrading the defense.

By DEFAULT, Herm has a better chance of getting a good WR because he won't have to waste so many picks on defense. He tends to get those right the first time.

Let's take Jarrett in the first, Gonzo II in the second, and Steve Smith in the third. Then trade Eddie for a 4th rounder and take Yamon Figures, then David Ball in the fifth. In the sixth and seventh take Steve Breaston and Aaron Fairooz. One of them should work out.

Next year: seven DT's.

In 22 years we'd have a hell of a team.

I still see outstanding WR value in the 2nd round, and directly because of that, highly doubt that any board @23 will have WR as BPA.

I'm talking about the depth of quality WR prospects pushes them all down IMO. If you can get the same quality at 54 than 23 for a position, or even close to same quality, how the hell is that best value?

question why take a chance, if that quality player isn't their, or BPA if the best player is a WR in both rounds then take a WR in both rounds.
