Would you take an OC who would develop our QB, but won't win games with play calling?

Knowing that we would end up as an average team (7-9, 8-8, 9-7) over the next three years.

But that the record came not from our play calling, but a strong defense, bad to average play calling and an increasingly more effective QB.

Assume the QB that is developing is Brodie Croyle.

I haven't met Laz personally, and I'm not real sure "normal" is a good thing, but I do know that we as Chiefs fans hope our front office does what other teams fans expect their front offices to do.

If you know a guy can help in developing Croyle but sucks as a playcaller (and I assume you are describing Mike Shula here)... why not try to hire this person as the QB coach?

Send Curled Dick to the buffet and hire a real QB coach
