I hate John Gruden!

I know he is one of the most promising young coaches in the NFL, but I if I see this cocky bastard jumping up and down in the middle of arrowhead one more time I will break my TV!!!

Va Chief,

Gunter's defenses in Oakland stunk. He had some players here in KC. He blitzed the hell out of teams and it worked. But you have to have personnel to do it and the Chiefs did. His hiring as the DC ultimately led to his hiring as HC. Both were bad moves, IMO.

Snore

Donnie once again led with 10 tackles, and recovered the forced fumble by Patton.

On another note, I once again want to toot John Browning's horn, with six tackles, because of all the talk of a weak interior line. Hicks and Clemons? Sacks? Tackles?

Gannon? Wasn't he a career backup? QB's like him can be had for free every day.

Grbac? Productive? What difference does that make when it's all about wins and losses. You did say that didn't you?

Horn? OK, you got one right.

Pack,

Now you are comparing GMs. As a coach who recognizes, develops, and wins with the talent he is provided Vermiel is every bit the head coach Gruden is and Chiefs fans have no reason to be jealous. Our coach is as good as he is and he has proven it as recently as 2 years ago. Your point about the Holmgren tree is valid though Holmgren is really a branch of the Bill Walsh tree.

Who was the youngest coach to win the SB? I'd also wonder what the average age is for SB coaches over the last 35 years?

PF...He was instrumental in changing schemes to fit the Chief's personnel (including focusing on more agressive play, and speed)...maybe I miss interpreted, but it seemed "he blitzed the hell out of teams" was used as an excuse for the success he had as DC...isn't taking advantage of your personnel strengths a sign of a doing a good job of coaching?

His success may have led to his hiring as head coach...but I don't think we go 13-3 and one holding call away from beating the eventual Super Bowl champs with Dave Adolph as DC...I understand the logic you are using...I just don't think it is fair to say it was wrong to bring Gunther here as DC...his eventual hiring as head coach should not factor into whether the initial move was a poor one...
