Anyone own the Logitech Harmony remote?

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...Id_34_L23-7326

TigerDirect has refurbished remotes on sale for $49.99. I'm thinking about getting one.

Anyone have one? Good reviews? Bad?

i got one just so the wife would stop complaining about the multiple remotes on the coffee table. i've tried cheaper ones in the past and they didn't have the specific remote options to do enough, specifically with the cable box remote.

Secretly this is one reason I'm glad we have the remote. But....in reality, I am so pissed I didn't get it for him earlier because it has come in so handy.

And in the rare occurrance that something doesn't work, you hit the "help" button and on the LCD screen it asks you which device isn't working. Say the receiver didn't turn on, you select it from the list on the LCD, the remote turns it on, then it asks you if that helped...you say yes then you're on your way. I know they're pretty pricey...especially this model...but I got lucky and picked mine up at the Circuit City liquidation sale and got it for about half price.
It doesn't work with the PS3?

Out of the box, no it does not. The PS3 is blue tooth only. You can purchase a small USB UHF to Bluetooth converter that will make it work but I'm pretty content with using the PS3 controller. The harmony remote still turns the TV and receiver on and to the correct inputs. All I have to do then is hit the PS button on the PS3 controller to turn it on and away I go.

I have A Logitech Harmony and mine turns on my 360 with no problem though I haven't tried setting up the dvd buttons.

Nevermind: you were probably talking about the PS3

They really should work on merging Harmony's tech with the Ipod Touch and IPhone. That'd be boss, to control all your AV and computer mechanations from your Ipod.

picked one up myself. Pretty damn impressed. ONly one problem though, it programmed all my video sources fine except for the 2 I used the most. HDMI 1 and Tuner. NO matter how many times I have tried it won't load those two sources and I have to use the NextInput feature instead. Annoying to say the least. I can't even "learn" the command because the remote that came with my TV only has a single source button to toggle between all sources. Kind of sucks.

you can likely set up an activity macro that would go something like

TV On
DVD On
Input
NextInput

it is setup similar to that. Unfortunately, it has to cycle through up to 7 inputs to get to the tuner though.

Outside of that little hiccup, this remote kicks ass!!! The simplicity of the macros is great.

check your tv. on my panasonic, I can switch inputs in the list, but I can also hit input then a # and it goes to that number input on the list. If yours is similar you could try Input 7

Nope. Didn't work. Thanks for the idea though.

I've got one. It does have it's limitations (the most annoying of which is no "menu" button for my blu-ray player, and it stubbornly refushes to allow me to program one) but overall I'm pretty pleased with it.

I've read about some people not having certain buttons on theirs. That's another good thing about the Harmony one. If for some reason the remote itself does not have the button, using the software that comes with it, you can create the button and it will be placed on the LCD screen for you to use. Same for inputs. When I first installed it, there were no HDMI inputs on their list of inputs, but all I did was hit "add" and typed in HDMI1 and HDMI2 and it somehow knew what they were. I'll sing this thing's praises til I see something better.
