Fire alarm in my house just went off

Got up, spent 20 minutes searching the house for smoke/fire - never found any. Very faint smell of smoke or something.

Now, can't sleep thinking I've missed something somewhere and the whole house is going to burn down.

Glad you managed the situation without shooting any major appliances.

Also, everything was fine. Never called the FD....probably should have. Just didn't want to drag anyone out at 1am for something that I wasn't sure was even there.

Stayed up until about 3:30a with no other issues and then slowly fell asleep.

check your wiring in your attic... we just had a house burn up in town.. the guy who owned it thought he could smell smoke for 3 days.. he just couldnt find it... turns out some wires in the attic were slowly smouldering (sp?) and they eventually got some air and took off...

worth a shot if you have an older house/older wiring..

I don't know which is more disturbing. Smeds incoherent posts, or the fact that you were able to figure out what the hell he was rambling on about. I think I speak for most of us, when I invite you to be the "official" Smed to english translator from this point forward.

Did you just recently fire up the AC, if I go without running the heat/AC for a while, the dust settled in the ducts kick out and set off the smoke detectors.

I thought about that. But, the AC has been running for awhile. What was strange is that it was the fire alarm in my 2 middle boys room. None of the other ones went off.
