When I said I would be OK with taking Eugene Monroe at #3

all I heard was that you don't take a right tackle that high. Does everyone still feel that way now that our franchise QB is a punching bag?

How is it ignorance? Shit happens, injuries happen...its ****ing football.

Is the Pats O-line terrible because Pollard injured Brady on a freak play?

This serious overreaction is amusing...the entire **** Scott Pioli BS and this.

You could've had anyone playing RT, RG, or anywhere else and that still could've happened.

I don't think it's quite as easy to just plug a 2nd day pick in there at RT. I think we would've needed to trade down to justify taking an O-lineman. I wouldn't have been against it. I thought we needed to do a lot of work on the O-line in order to draft Sanchez.

But there are just so many holes. Our defense was atrocious. I think Jackson is going to be alright, and if we didn't take him we'd be sitting here saying "Why didn't we address the defense of a team that set a league record for fewest sacks?"

There are historical facts about great OLs staying healthy as units, and that has a lot to do with the "roll up" that happens when the "other" OT whiffs. Having a stiff at ORT makes keeping Albert and Waters "healthy" that much less probable.

This was not a one year fix. As of right now, we are giving up less than 16 points a game on the defensive side. I like the picks we made.

We have a solid LT, which is key. You don't need other high draft picks on the O-line other than at the LT spot. You need the other guys to be good, but not HOFers. Guys like a Darryl Harris show up on Super Bowl O-lines all of the time. Maybe he is our teams find... no matter how he got here.

I wouldn't have a problem with it. But the sad reality is nobody has that much patience anymore. Coaches, front offices, fans... it's a win now league. You would've had people calling for Sanchez to start by week 4, especially with Thigpen running around doing his thing. Even if it stunts someone's development or gets them killed.

I agree. The Chiefs should have went after some of the OL during FA or used alot of their draft picks to pick them. To just ignore them was stupid just like when Herm and Carl ignored it as well.

I haven't quite figure out why for 2 straight years why 2 separate groups of people can't see the obvious? It defies logic IMO.

No brainer.

Tyson Jackson is Brett Kiesel with dreds...

Monroe is a franchise OT.
If Tyson Jackson is Brett Kiesel, then it's an outstanding pick. Kiesel is a critical piece to the Steelers' defense which, in case you haven't checked, is pretty darn good.

I agree with you that the right side of the o-line needed to be improved. But so did our D-line. And here's a simple truth: getting a quality D-linemen outside of the first round is a crapshoot. Getting a good Guard, Center, and/or Right Tackle outside of the first round isn't that hard to do. Especially given that the best Centers and Guards are rarely ever taken in the top 25.

It is common knowledge that quarterbacks are only injured from the left side of the field. You can find a serviceable right tackle if you scout the fast food joints and convenience stores.

Geez...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brett_Keisel

"Keisel was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round (242nd overall)"

If interior and ORTs were so easy to come by, why does "genius" Pioli not have JACK to show for year 1 save a TRYOUT PLAYER?
