Yes I'm glad they are looking for help, but I'm still pissed that their dumb asses were this slow to react.
The sad part is, a whole lot of players & coaches are watching this team get worse and none of them are going to want to be here next season. |

Maybe Pioli and Haley realize how shitty our talent level is and they just wanted to bomb this year to get another high draft spot to bring the talent level up before going out and making deals.

So they're wasting an entire season for a draft pick, and you're OK with that?

I really doubt they are planning on it. You just can't turn a team this bad around in one year no matter what you do, its not possible to overturn a roster that much.

Or Ravens, Bucs, Rams, Panthers, Jags have all done it. You can say it was a fluke or whatever, because they don't stay good, but the point is teams can go from losing most of their games one season to going to the playoffs or with some of those the super bowl the very next season.

That is unless you are the Chiefs. Then, we just hope for the next season.

Seriously, you're a ****ing idiot. NO ONE was expecting Pioli to completely turn this franchise around in one offseason. NO ONE. The problem is that 8 months have now passed, an entire draft was wasted, and entire free-agency period came and went and this team has not improved in ANY area over last year. As a matter of fact, they've taken a few steps backwards, which is something that I was told (as were many others) would be IMPOSSIBLE. Yet, it's happened. And like a ****ing moron, you're defending those very same people that have taken the Chiefs to even deeper depths of SUCKAGE. |

The Ravens haven't experienced two "down" seasons in a row this entire decade. Tampa Bay was a perennial loser for decades before Dungy and even then, they couldn't get over the hump until they brought in Gruden and a 37 year old QB. And since that time, all they've done is regress. The Panthers are up and down each year, depending on how Delhomme performs. BTW, Delhomme sucks and shouldn't be an NFL starter. The Rams were horrible for a long time. It took Vermeil three years, a complete roster overhaul and the addition of two HOF players to get over the hump. Their success only lasted 4 seasons and they've been sucking for years again. The Jags last year had serious offensive line issues, beginning with one of their starters losing his leg in a gun fight. They've been a solid franchise for a long, long time and will be again this season. The point is that you need to build your franchise for the long-term, like the Eagles, Giants, Ravens and Steelers. Continually add talent, don't overpay for non-skilled positions and keep the same basic philosophies on offense and defense in place. The Chiefs have been a cluster**** for the better part of the past 40 years. |

New England has never set the world on fire with their drafting. They like King Carl's style of team building.

Since 2001, 14 teams have made the playoffs after winning five games or fewer the previous season. A look at each team, with their playoff season record and record from the previous season:

There's plenty of history for NFL teams making turnarounds
During the past eight seasons, 14 teams have made the playoffs after winning five games or fewer the previous season. By Danny O'Neil Seattle Times staff reporter PREV 1 of 2 NEXT WIN MCNAMEE / GETTY IMAGES Changing coaches isn't necessary to make a turnaround as Joe Gibbs proved with Washington in 2007. ELSA / GETTY IMAGES Chad Pennington has led bounce-back seasons with the Jets and the Dolphins. Comeback kids Since 2001, 14 teams have made the playoffs after winning five games or fewer the previous season. A look at each team, with their playoff season record and record from the previous season: 2008 Baltimore 11-5 5-11 2008 Atlanta 11-5 4-12 2008 Miami 11-5 1-15 2007 Washington 9-7 5-11 2007 Tampa Bay 9-7 4-12 2006 New York Jets 10-6 4-12 2006 New Orleans 10-6 3-13 2005 Chicago 11-5 5-11 2005 Tampa Bay 11-5 5-11 2004 San Diego 12-4 4-12 2004 Atlanta 11-5 5-11 2003 Dallas 10-6 5-11 2001 New England 11-5 5-11 2001 Chicago 13-3 5-11 Danny O'Neil U-turns are not just permitted in the NFL, they're relatively common. Eight teams finished with five wins or fewer last season, so which two are going to make the playoffs this year? That's what recent history says we should expect, which is good news for the Seahawks, who are coming off a disastrous 4-12 year. Over the past eight NFL seasons, 14 teams have reached the playoffs after winning five games or fewer the year before. Those teams offer a reason for hope for the league's downtrodden, a precedent that a team can bottom out one year and bounce back the next. And while we're busy analyzing the images in the rearview mirror, what does history have to say about the teams that bounced back? Is there a secret formula? Here's a look inside those turnarounds in search of patterns. 1. Who's the boss? Makes sense that most turnaround teams would have a new coach, right? After all, everyone in the league just loves to talk about parity, any given Sunday and all that jazz. You get a coach who comes in spitting fire, he can breathe life into a roster, inspiring the same old players to new heights. Just look at last year. Baltimore, Atlanta and Miami each reached the playoffs after finishing last in their divisions in 2007. All three had new coaches in 2008. So all you need is a new man in the headset, right? Except the new millennium has shown that the same old coach can be just as effective at inspiring a turnaround. Of the 14 teams who bounced back to the playoffs after winning five games or fewer, seven of them had new coaches and seven of them didn't. Heck, Joe Gibbs did it in 2007 and he was in the midst of his second run as Washington's coach. 2. Passing the torch Well, if it's not the coach then it's got to be the quarterback, right? Actually, that's usually true. Of the 14 teams, 10 had new quarterbacks emerge as the primary starters. In some cases it was a rookie, such as Matt Ryan in Atlanta and Joe Flacco in Baltimore last season. Other times, it was a veteran who came in and provided stability, like Drew Brees in New Orleans in 2006 and Chad Pennington in Miami last season. But the most important precedent from the Seahawks' perspective is the Jets team of 2006 when New York won 10 games to make the playoffs just one year after going 4-12. Pennington missed 13 games in that 4-12 season but came back and led the Jets to the playoffs. The Jets gave up on him last year, opting for that Brett Favre guy, and all Pennington did was pass the Dolphins into the playoffs. That's a lesson to people who might choose to give up on a quarterback early. Of the three bounce-back teams last season, two started rookie quarterbacks chosen in the first round — Atlanta and Baltimore. But of the 14 bounce-back teams this millennium those were the only two teams that turned over the reins to rookie quarterbacks. 3. It's not how you start, but how you finish The bounce-back team's got to rebound quick, right? They've got to get rid of the bad juju quickly, rolling in the opposite direction from the previous disaster. And sure enough, it's better to get off to a good start than a bad one. Eight of the 14 bounce-back teams won their first game in that rebound season, but that means that six of them started 0-1 and still made the playoffs. In fact, four had a losing record at the end of September. It's the closing kick that's really what counts. Of the 14 teams, only two had a losing record in December. That's the real barometer, the true test. There is no magic formula. You can do it with a new coach or the same old quarterback. The trait that most of these teams had was they finished with a sprint. |

So how many of those teams were under the first year of a new GM/HC and went on to be good for years?
