I wouldn't call them legal gangs but whatever. Like I said the joke became lame when I had to explain it.

That being said I always enjoyed Alpha Phi Alpha's step shows while I was in school. I always got annoyed when the Latino frats and sororities would step because of the lack of a cultural significance wrt stepping to Latinos.

Not really. Stepping has a cultural significance to Black frats and sororities. The same can't be said for Latino frats and sororities. To me (and I'm Latino) it was a "johnny-come-lately, hey that looks cool so let's do it too" type of deal.

I'm familiar with the cultural significance, but if another group wants to do it who cares? If anything it's an homage to the significance. Hip hop music has cultural significance, too. I don't think it means it's lame for a Latino or white person to rap. Not that you're saying that you're enraged by it or anything, but it seems odd that it would annoy you. Does the fact that these girls did it bother you?

Not really and I don't feel like getting into the back story of why it annoys me (it's a an uninteresting rant that was the result of working with several organizations and I don't feel like hijacking wutamess's thread).
