So men...

Is it going to be Okung or Berry?

Is that what we think?

Right now I have 9:4 on a $50 bet that the Chiefs DON'T take an OL/DL/or WR...

So if they take Berry, I win $112.50...

I can also take Okung for $50 (hedge bet) and get paid 11/2 on my money...

So if they do take Okung, I lose that 9:4 bet I made MONTHS ago and end up coming out even better...

So IF I hedge my 9:4 bet with Okung, you guys think I'll be a winner one way or the other?

If they want an OT that bad they could easily trade back up into the top of the 1st round.

Trent Williams is on my madden team! that's odd now that I think about it.

two things:

1) Pertaining to this thread...I wished I jumped over this earlier...they have their odds on favorite as Baluga at 5:6...that's insane. Baluga isn't going to happen.

Not pertaining to this thread:

We already have a LT...why in god's name do we need a RT at #5? Even if #5 shifts over to LT eventually...we just have more pressing needs...

Which is why hedging the bet in the 1st place is a bad idea...

But I'm pretty sure if the Chiefs do trade down...the 9:4 bet is toast since it specifically asks who the Kansas City Chiefs will take at #5...

Williams is a great athlete, but he got his shit pushed in several times this year.

If that's the case, if they trade down that should disqualify the bet and give you your money back. If they don't make a pick, how can that be a loss?

The easiest way to put it is, if the Chiefs somehow think Okung is an elite LT, then he becomes basically one of the 2 most important people on the team.

They didn't draft Albert nor does he have a big enough contract that it absolutely doesn't allow him to be moved. It's one of those well we don't have to have a OT but if you grade a guy as elite at that position you basically have to take him unless you already have a perennial pro bowl guy there.

Yeah, but did we really Tyson Jackson last year, and was he even the best 3-4 lineman available in the draft?

We don't yet know enough about Pioli's draft record on his own to know what will happen with this pick, but you can't rule out him turtling up and picking a tackle since he said himself that he's risk averse. Williams and Bulaga will both pan out at RT at the very worst. They may look at that as good enough.

I agree with that. If they have Okung graded as elite they'll take him from a BPA perspective. That's really my biggest fear because I think Okung is the only one they would actually draft at 5.

That's a big reason I'm hoping all of the quietness on Clausen is the calm before the storm.

I'll say this straight up, if Washington takes Williams, 95% certain the Chiefs go up there and take Okung.

He did. I think he's progressed nicely though, and Bulaga got his ass handed to him a few times as well IIRC. Although, I don't even know why Bulaga is rated as highly as he is. I think there's a couple of guys better than him too. Honestly, I think I like Saffold better than Bulaga.

I'm not a big fan of guys that are already at their ceiling before coming out. While Trent is fairly polished, I think there's room for progression.

Oh and if that happens, Albert probably won't be here after his first contract, because if this pick is Okung this is what will happen.

He'll go in at LT, Albert will probably spend his year doing an alright job at RT even though he's not suited for it, then getting kicked in to LG by the start of next year. I doubt he'll hang around changing 3 positions like that.
