Mayock on McCluster at the Senior Bowl...

I always record the Senior Bowl to watch after the draft to see the players we drafted. This year there are 3. All on the South roster. Arenas, McCluster, and Sheffield.

At the top of the show, Mayock is talking about 3 players that really caught his eye. Wilson from Boise State, Iupati from Idaho, and McCluster. Here is what he said about Mccluster...

"And finally the wow factor. Dexter McCluster, 5-8, 165. He is a lightning rod of opinion, but he is a playmaker at tailback where he will start today. But where he blew me away was at wide receiver. His route running. His hands. You can line him up anywhere you want. And really his only limitations, in my mind, is the creativity of whatever offensive coordinator that is lucky enough to get him."

I like the fact we do now have a spot filled at the slot, and at kick returner. There still is no reason that Pioli couldn't have addressed NT at least with the kid from UNC much later in the draft.

Didn't we pass on him for basically a backup safety?

I get that more NFL teams are becoming pass happy, but you can't cover people for 10 seconds while your Dline gets no rush whatsoever.

The only ones that will do that are a handful of insecure morons on this board. 99.9% of Chiefs fans will love these guys if they produce.

Just finished watching. We drafted 3 very good players. Mayock had very good things to say about all three of these guys throughout the game. On Arenas, he said he is one of his favorite players in all of college football. But, he expects him to be a nickel corner because he is very quick in short the short area, but lacks the long speed. Shortly thereafter, Arenas broke a 62 yard punt return, that he got ran down from behind by a player that had the bigtime angle on Arenas. Mayock stated that that return sums up Arenas's ability perfectly.

We got some good players guys.

Drafting a return man/nickle corner at 2B was a sickening waste of resources.

Pretty much everyone here knows this league has turned into a passing first league. You have to have guys that can cover talented WR's. I don't think this is a wasted pick at all... even if it was in the 2nd round.

And if this guy can give us a short field on returns once in a while, I'm all for it. I had enough of Bobby Wade returning punts last year to last me a lifetime.

We drafted the safety from Tennessee that let McClunker run for 280 whatever yards against them in one game? Does that not concern anyone? That even with Berry, we still might get trampled on by no-name running backs we put on the map ala Jerome Harrison next season?

McClunker?

And Eric Berry is a stud. If you're concerned about Eric Berry because "McClunker" ran all over him, then that means every SEC defender is suspect.

Arkansas - 260 YDS
Auburn - 203 YDS
Tennessee - 342 YDS
LSU - 164 YDS
MS State - 145 yds
Vandy - 176 yds

yea but look at that stat line, Tennessee's is like DOUBLE of all the other schools McClunker ran on. I'm not saying Eric Berry is NOT a stud, I'm sure he will be great, but I'm saying with a spotty Chiefs front 7 even with Eric Berry, if a little guy like that can run on Tennessee's defense with Eric Berry and Dan Williams (and Dan Williams could project out being a lot better than anything we have on the d-line) than I think it's a fair assumption to guess our run defense will be very poor again. Eric Berry is not the answer to stop the run, he is the answer to stop the pass.

incorrect, it was a 4.6 that he ran at the combine :-)

How anyone could pretend that he actually runs a 4.6 is beyond me.
