Battle for the top two AFC seeds

The current standings:

1. 10-2 New England
2. 9-3 Pittsburgh
3. 8-4 Kansas City
4. 7-5 Jacksonville
5. 9-3 New York
6. 8-4 Baltimore.

Remaining tough games for New England:

Chicago, Green Bay, Miami

Remaining tough games for Baltimore:

Houston, New Orleans

Remaining tough games for New York:

Miami, Pitt, Chicago

Remaining tough games for Pitt:

New England, Baltimore, New York

Remaining tough games for KC:

San Diego, Tennessee

Notice that the other contenders on this list are going to play each other. A lot. It's entirely possible these teams could cannibalize each other while we sit back and laugh and reap the reward.

If the Chiefs take care of business and beat the losers on their schedule we could very well claim a first-round bye.

Nah... they have 5 road games left, not including two tough games to end the season. No way they go 8-1 to end the season.... I don't care how soft the schedule looks, the winless Bills just took them down to the last seconds of OT.

"lose in the first playoff game with our shitbag QB"... yep.

With Indy's win tonight, they move ahead of the Chiefs based on head-to-head tiebreaker.

The current standings:

1. 6-1 New England
2. 5-2 Baltimore
3. 5-2 Indianapolis
4. 5-2 Kansas City
5. 5-2 New York
6. 5-2 Pittsburgh

People called that at the beginning of last season... many people said they could go at least 4-0 and miss the playoffs, because their schedule was brutal after that... I don't think there's any way the Chiefs will go 13-3, and maybe they won't have a chance at a bye in December (which is the point of this thread, to track it), but it's not like they're going to lose 7 of 9, either.

Man, how tough is the AFC?

Every playoff team is competing for the top two seeds.

This thread is also useful to see who we'd play in the first round if we didn't get a bye. Right now we'd host the Jets. Sanchez Bowl: Drafturbators vs True Fans.

My point was more about the league's parity than "omg the Chiefs suck!!"... the Bills have been playing well lately, and that goes along with my point. Yeah, they would probably go 8-1 on paper.

I did too call that same collapse, but the Denver fans were all convinced they had the AFC West and a Home game playoff.

You still have to play the games, 1 game at a time, we were suppose to beat Buffalo easily. Buffalo was a better team than their record, I knew we would have trouble with them because we have not found that killer instinct yet to put teams down and out.... ref: Houston & now Buffalo.

I do see us at 10-6, maybe 11 - 5.

The Jets have to hold off the Titans, Dolphins, Texans and Raiders.

Good thing we only have to worry about Oakland.

These forecasts don't reflect the updated team efficiency ratings (which won't be posted until Wednesday) but they are applicable to this thread none the less.

Odds for one of the top 2 seeds:

Pittsburgh: 80%
Kansas City: 35%
Indy: 32.5%
NE: 23%
Baltimore: 6%
Jets: 5%
Miami: 6%
Tennessee: 5%
Houston: 4%

When I look at this list, ALL those teams are better than KC. It doesn't matter because it's good to be playing games that actually count in November! I don't think the Chiefs will get a bye, but I do see them finishing 10-6. I also see them possibly making the playoffs as a Wild Card simply because all the other teams play each other, thus some will have to lose while KC sits back and wins games against lesser opponents. Had anyone told me this before the season, I'd have called them CRAZY. Come to think of it - I did...

Also, beating Denver will be "tougher" than it appears...
