Rudy Niswanger to the Lions

I was just writing a story looking at where some of the Kansas City Chiefs unsigned free agents were headed. We have DE Shaun Smith to the Titans, DT Ron Edwards to the Panthers and CB Maurice Leggett to the Lions.
Now we can add another to the list: G/C Rudy Niswanger to the Lions. This according to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com. Niswanger becomes, from what I can tell, the fourth player that left the Chiefs this season to sign with another team.
The KC connection in Detroit is Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham. The actual connection, as Wilson points out, is Niswanger's college offensive line coach being in Detroit.
Niswanger entered the league in 2006 as an undrafted free agent and spent three years as a reserve and two years as a starter at center for the Chiefs. He was the bridge between C Casey Wiegmann's departure and his return two years later.
Niswanger was the Chiefs player rep which became an important role over the last year. He was the main line of communication between the high-level labor negotiations and the rest of the Chiefs players.
Glad to hear Niswanger caught on with another team.
