Pats/Chiefs: A few final thoughts

So a few thoughts on last night's game.

1. Haley's decision to NOT go for it on 4th down and 1 from the Pats ~40 made no sense to me. Even though he punted and the defense held and the Chiefs got the ball back, it seems to me that you're 4-5 and the season is slipping away. Pats defense isn't reminding anyone of the 2000 Ravens or '86 Giants. Go for it.

2. I liked the decision to do the onsides kick. But then you remember they didn't go for it on 4th and 1. Que?

3. Holding call on . . . . errr, that Pope? Whoever it was that wiped out Edelman. Yeah, ticky-tack.

4. Endless bitching about refs in the game thread -- pathetic. Just pathetic, endless "the refs SCREWED us!!!111 giggity giggity". Just stop it. Make the complaint and move on. EVERY team in the NFL thinks the refs are out to get them. My Dad spent 50 years bitching about refs and umpires in every inning, quarter and period of every sport he ever watched. It was stupid then for him, and it's stupid now for you.

5. Palko doesn't seem like the real deal. He's young yet, so maybe, but...

6. Don't worry about the Chiefs seeming inability to cover Gronk. Nobody can. He's just a beast.

7. Chiefs defense seemed pretty good, overall. I imagine ti will be much better when Berry is back.

8. Pats came out really flat in the first half, but credit to the Chiefs also. They showed spirit for a good while.

9. Running up the score -- I don't mind Belichick going for it on 4th down late near the end zone. Punting isn't an option, and kicking a FG is stupid, but I'd much rather just man up and run it up the middle rather than what we did. At least this proves that BB does it to everybody, even his buddy Pioli. He's consistent, I'll say that. Pats have no right, ever, to bitch about anybody rolling up the score on them though.

10. Alot of very sad posts in the game thread about trying to hurt Patriots players now that the score is out of control. WTF kind of Raiders-esque thinking is that by Chiefs fans? And if any of them is a parent, WTF kind of sportsmanship is that?

11. Nobody will know if the Patriots really have a good team until the playoffs. The rest of it's schedule is a cake-walk. They may really be pretty good, especially once some of the injured bodies come back, or another one-and-done.

12. Patriots' "lowest ranked defense". I'm hearing that alot, on TV and around here. Yes, BY YARDS. But the Pats defense is middle of the pack by points, the only thing that matters. Not that the defense is all that good -- it isn't, but this "NFL's worst defense" is a tad misleading.

But I would not have thrown once that drive. Nor would I have Brady sneak it.

I think if Haley hadn't called the two timeouts, Belichick doesn't get pissy and throw for it on 3rd and goal. But, yeah, it was pretty bush-league to throw. And, frankly, Brady should've been out as soon as the Chiefs turned it over on downs with around 6:00 to go. Belichick has done that all the time over the past 10 years (leaving Brady in when they have a big lead) and it drives me crazy.

And I think of you as a quality poster, but this shit YOU just pulled is chris/sportsshrink/Tom Cash league. Way to scold people on the internet, bro. I'll bet you they'll think twice the next time their favorite team gets embarrassed on national TV, are angry, and have the use of a perfect vessel to release that anger where nobody will care: the internet.

Well, MOST rational people don't care. You apparently do. Lighten up. Do you think when people around here tell other posters to "get AIDS" or "die in a fire" that they actually sincerely mean it? I'm sure your holier-than-us ass has seen some of those comments, yeah? Where were you? We need you to dole out wrist-slappings to these jerks, man.

In short, I still like you, but no Chiefs fans gives a shit about your team. The comments were harmless. Admit it- you're just on your period and little things upset you these days. That's fine.

Oh, and get AIDS and die in a fire, asshole.

The Chiefs were fired up and ready to play, and as soon as they realized Palko was Cassel2, they were ****ed.

BB made some great halftime adjustments as always. That Polish TE should be banned from football, it isn't fair.
You can't challenge penalties unfortunately.

From now on, I root for concussions, torn ligaments, and bubonic plague for any and ALL Patriots players on EVERY play.

Thanks, Amnorix. You've changed the way I watch football for the better.

Good to see you thinking so hard, Mr. Amnorix. Just remember, on this day in history, you thought really hard.

1. Definitely a "go for it" scenario if there ever was one. That's probably why he didn't.

2. I liked it, too. The classic Haley WTF? decision that almost worked but didn't.

3. That, my friend, is an example of what your father was right. If that was a hold, I'm an antelope running free in the grassy hills looking for a female antelope with whom I can share my antelope life.

4. Hali got held on the way to the airport.

5. Palko would make a good coach's assistant someday.

6. That dude is a crazy, badass dude.

7. Our defense is our strong point, that's for sure. Held you to under 40.

8. We did come out with spirit and verve. Unfortunately, Brady took our verve and put it into re-verve.

9. We called a timeout to rest our guys. We deserved it.

10. I don't understand this either. In the old days, we would simple pray that the enemy quarterback be decapitated.

11. I'm sure this is interesting to you.

12. Well, we put 3 on your ass. That's not going to help.

They didn't "get to me". They're words on a screen from people I've never met and never will meet. But why would you prove you're classless? It's just a dumb and classless reaction. One that would seem a bit odd in light of the criticisms over the years around here about the Raiders being dirty, Rodney Harrison being dirty, etc. etc.

So I'm going to point it out.

If that ties your panties in a knot, or makes you think I'm the second coming of Tom Cash, that's fine. Whether you (or anyone else on here) roots for the crippling of other team's football players won't change a thing for anyone anywhere. Go for it.

But if some other team's player does something dirty to a Chiefs player, then you'll have to about it. Or be a total hypocrite. Whichever. That too doesn't matter.
