Dansby sees God working through Tebow
Many athletes who believe in God believe that God has a hand in their on-field exploits. Many athletes and non-athletes who believe in God believe that’s a lot of bunk, because it implies that God for whatever reason wants to make the opponents lose and/or look foolish.
As I said in the very first item I ever wrote about football for an Internet-based publication, God has far bigger things to worry about than who wins and loses sporting events. But I respect the opinions of those who believe otherwise. And Dolphins linebacker Karlos Dansby believes that God is working through Tim Tebow. Dansby, whose Dolphins were the first victims of Tebowmania, told Jim Rome today that he and other members of the team saw Godliness in Tebow’s stunning comeback from a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter. “Us losing to Tim Tebow the way we did, we seen it first hand,” Dansby said on Rome’s radio show. “Young man is blessed. Young man has a special anointing on him. And for God to show himself in that game the way He did, through the guy He did it through, it opened a lot of guys’ eyes on our team. And it brought a lot of guys closer to God, so like I said, everything happens for a reason. . . . My hat goes off to Tim. And God working through him like that, it opened up a lot of eyes. He’s a blessed young man and I wish him much success the rest of his career.” If guys truly believe that, Tebow will be a magnet for certain free agents. If they believe God is working through Tebow and if that means God will be helping his team win games, why wouldn’t they want to play with Tebow? http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...through-tebow/ |

Man, wonder how shocked people are going to be when some crazy guy kills or maims him for being a false prophet...

I think the "God working through Tebow" thing is bullshit, honestly. I can't say that it is impossible, there are certainly things out there that I just don't understand, but I don't think it's true. I tend to think that if there is a God that He works more in a Deist sense.
That being said, faith is real. I have seen it in my daily life. My young children have "faith" in me to act in their best interests because they know that I love them unconditionally. My wife, who is going through an extremely difficult time in her life right now, has "faith" in me to make decisions for her when she can't. Because she knows that I love her and always will. My boss and my coworkers have "faith" in me to get the job done. They rely on me. They expect me to do my job at a high level of competency because they know that my work ethic, in part, defines who I am. Right now the Broncos players have "faith" in Tim Tebow. The religious ones see the power of Christ in his daily life. They share a belief system and they know he is committed to it. The non religious ones respect Tebow's beliefs because they know that Tebow's religious views, in part, define who he is. It's not fake. That's who he really is. So...no. I don't see God working through Tebow. I see the power of the human spirit and it is an awesome thing. |

You know what's funny, I was thinking Tebow would be perfect for the Anti Christ role. He could sell the hatred of fundamentalism very easily. |

Tebow hate amazes me. Good kid, polite, gifted athlete, wins games, and has strong belief in his religion. Whats wrong with any of that?

Absolutely nothing. I don't share his beliefs but I admire the kid.

If a guy like Tamba Hali played QB, people would love him just as much as they love Tebow. |

More so it relates to the hype. Sure he is winning games but I don't see him sustaining this and I don't see the Broncos winning meaningful playoff games or SBs with him under center.

So, if the hype dies down, he starts not winning, people will be Tebow supporters? Bullshit. The guy is exceeding all expectations and is squeaky clean and that somehow makes people not like him. People generally suck and this is a good case study.

Uhhh, he's a Bronco QB that's winning games and you're reading about him on a Chiefs website during another sh*tty Chiefs season. That could have something to do with it, at least on here...

No...and he wouldn't get talked about as much. Shocking but many also don't agree with some of the extreme views he shares. |

If he was Muslim and praising Allah, he would be villianized by the same people that admire him for "standing up for what he believes in".
