Chiefs Worse contract for an unproven QB: Cassel vs. Osweiler - Page 3

It strikes me that the Texans situation this year isn't completely unlike the Chiefs back in the dark ages. Both Cassel and Osweiler had performed well with their previous teams, but both of those teams were Super Bowl contenders regardless of the quarterback. Both of them got monster contracts that many questioned, and both of them (at least thus far for Osweiler)...well...sucked pretty hardcore.

If you try and take your own Chiefs bias out of it, which contract do you think was the most egregious error on the part of their new teams?

Jamarcus Russell. 6 year 61 million 32 million guaranteed

Cassel. At least Ostrichweiler still has some raw talent that could be developed with the right coaching. Cassel was at his ceiling the day Pioli traded for him.

Elway doesn't look like a complete butt-**** for letting Oz walk whereas KC and Peeholi look like complete butt-****s for even entertaining the notion of Mark Castle, much less paying him a dime.

It's hard to remove my Cassel bias, but I still think that's worse, primarily because Pioli came from that team and had inside information about Cassel as a player. You know that Elway was lying like crazy about Osweiler to cheat the Texans, but Pioli was supposedly a buddy of Belichick's.

I don't know the details on Cassell deal but the Osweiler wasn't traded for a pick and really can be canned after next year and gone.

Pee-oh-lee traded away high round picks AND paid Cassy a boat load of cash. The suckiness of that bad deal resonates throughout the halls of bottom feeder teams to this day. Epic. Pure genius in how to destroy a team.
